Daschle: First lady experience doesn’t count for Clinton

schle: First lady experience doesn’t count for Clinton By Aaron Blake Posted: 03/09/08 01:41 PM [ET] Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) on Sunday questioned Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (N.Y.) pitching of herself as the most experienced candidate in the Democratic presidential race, suggesting her years as first lady do not add much to her foreign policy credentials.

Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Daschle, a supporter of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), pointed out that Obama has served in elective office longer than Clinton and suggested her time as first lady does not have much relevance to the office she seeks.

“I worked with her; I know what a good first lady she was,” Daschle said. “But it would be hard for me to draw some degree of connection between being a first lady and having the experience to be the commander in chief.

“I don’t think anyone can look at her experience as first lady and say, for some reason, that qualifies her to run for president of the United States.”

Clinton supporter and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) said before Daschle’s comments that Obama is ready to be president but “not nearly as ready” as Clinton.

“I’ve been talking to Democratic candidates since 1980, and Hillary Clinton is the best-prepared candidate I’ve ever talked to – far better prepared than Bill Clinton was in 1992,” Rendell said.

to say she doesnt have what it takes to lead this country... She has been threw more than a lot

She doesn't have what it takes.

She is a classic micromanager who is more concerned with perception than reality.

She has never held down a job that her husband has not gotten her.

I repeat: she has never held down a job that her husband has not gotten her.

If elected, her presidency would make Carter's look like Reagan's.

What has Hillary Clinton "been through" exactly?

The Clinton crime syndicate has been putting folks in graveyards for several decades. Shaking down countless for millions also for decades.
I did not say she couldn’t be president, I say she should in no way be elected president.
Mrs. Clinton is a p.o.s. and again that characterizes far too many of our politicians.

Obama should ask her if Laura Bush has 16 years of experience because she was First Lady of Texas and First Lady of the United States.

Again, I am not a Hillary supporter, but I do think it is a bit prejudice to think she was “Only the First Lady”. Have you ever heard of Congressmen who die and their wives take over...What is that?

I just think it is a weak argument to think she has not gained anything by being the First Lady...I am sure she knows more than most regarding what was going on in the country.

As for any accomplishments I think the “Children's Defense Fund” was a darn good thing!!!

Ask Hispanics regarding Tuition for low income families, so they could go to a college affordably.

Lets not loose our sensibility when we don't want to elect someone.

Agree....I aree we have too many in our Government already, she is just another, and I believe it will be found that Mr.Obama is very good at hiding his true character.

So...there is McCain, Oh how I wish we had true men/women of valor and character. What will it take to shake down the crud and let the cream rise to the top?

I love America....Where are you?

Obama must have promised him a cabinet position.

He’s too much of a coward to take on the Clintons otherwise.

Yea, and Bret Favre’s wife, Dianne, is qualified to be quarterback of the Packers now that Bret is retired. After all, she has been with Bret since grade school.

“I’ve been talking to Democratic candidates since 1980, and Hillary Clinton is the best-prepared candidate I’ve ever talked to – far better prepared than Bill Clinton was in 1992,” Rendell said.

Of course she's the best prepared. Who else has a prior 8 year record of sleaze and corruption at the white house and comes with a built-in VP?
