Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh led a campaign to have his Republican followers in Texas cross party lines and vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the states open primary last Tuesday. Why? Because Limbaugh thinks Republicans can defeat Clinton in a general election. Plus, watching Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama bloody each other in a nomination fight is pure sport for Limbaugh conservatives.
According to exit polls, Clinton won a notably higher number of Republican voters than she has in past open primary contests. Of the 9% of voters who identified themselves as Republicans in the Democratic Primary, Obama still edged Clinton 53%-46%. However, that margin is significantly slimmer than earlier contests. In Wisconsins open primary, for instance, Republicans broke 72%-28% for Obama. Similarly, in Virginias open primary, Obama was favored 72%-23%.
Clinton unquestionably secured a Texas victory, but some locals are convinced it was a false win bolstered by dirty politics. Laura Jean Kreissl, an accounting professor at West Texas A&M University, served as an election official in Canyon, Texas on Tuesday. She contacted the Wall Street Journal to report the hijinks she observed at the four precincts that voted at her polling location.
Of the 181 voters she personally dealt with, 70 offered that they were Rush Limbaugh voters who were there to cast ballots for Clinton. Im here to vote for Hillary Clinton, I want to see the Democratic Party implode, one voter told Kreissl, she recounted in an interview. I was just stunned, she said. As an election official we cant say anything. We just jot them down and let them vote.

But it probably won’t be 8 years-—it’ll be SIXTEEN years.
8 for the ‘Toons and 8 for Obama, running as her incumbant VP.
I have had many good years listening faithfully to Rush, but, like you, I wonder . . .
LOL!
And don’t think that Her Heinous won’t try to USE that to her advantage. She’ll be doing the things that McCain’s campaign might be loathe to do.
Women are the VAST majority of the population.
Many women who never voted before will register to vote for the first woman president.
Obama was easier to beat. Many Democrat racists will not vote for a black man.
Rush , Levin et al. made a big mistake.
“Your comment has been recorded, and will be compared to the actual events that occur in November, 2008. Should Hillary Clinton become the next President of the United States, you will be awarded the coveted See I Told Rush So! Award at the Third Annual FreeRepublic.com (this time Anti)-Inaugural Ball featuring the musical magic of Governor Mike Huckabees Capital Offense.”
I’ll mention you in my acceptance speech.
Seriously, on the day of the Virginia primary I announced my intention here on FR to cross-over and vote for Obama to block Hillary. It generated a vigorous discussion thread, and I did cast the vote for Obama. So I’m “on record”.
In your dreams.
The street-fighter 'RATS set the rules of the game and made sure we got McCainiac as our candidate. He'd never be where he is without 'RAT and 'RATindependents crossing over and voting for the Republican candidate they wanted.
We thought Florida was going to be the first test for an accurate vote because it was supposed to be a "closed" primary where only Republicans could vote for the Republican candidate. As it turned out - 'RATS and 'RATindependents were allowed to vote on "provisional" ballots at the last minute when it appeared as if Romney would win.
It's inside baseball that even though ex-gov. Jeb Bush (quietly backing Romney) and current gov. "Mr. Suntan" Crist (first a Guilani supporter who switched to McCainiac) had an agreement together that they were not going to publically endorse a candidate until after the Florida primary, Mr.Suntan broke that promise at the last minute, endorsing McCainiac the night before the election.
Add in an over-night McCainiac/Mel Martinez robo push-poll call to Cubans in South Florida to scare them away from Romney whom they had previously viewed very favorably.
Add in McCainiac's stalking horse (Huckabee) to split the conservative evangelical vote in the various States - (without Huckabee in the race, Romney would have still won Florida despite the above-mentioned shenanigans) - and that's how we got McCainiac shoved down our throats.
The political enemy set the rules for playing this game and now that we're playing by their street-fighter rules they're squealing like stuck pigs.
Good. They wanted hard-ball - they're getting hard-ball. I think we are witnessing the beginning of the end of the 'RAT Party as it has been known for the past half century. The '08 election will be the catalyst that fractures it beyond repair.
I love being among the hard-ball players who have been working to make that happen.
Let them come back into Florida and try to "re-do" their primary. I'm waiting on 'em. So is my brother in Michigan if they try a "re-do" up there. bttt
I know because I listen to his show. He discusses his schedule periodically, and tells his listeners when to expect him to be away.
And he would be beaten in November — Hillary will win, though.
Your comment reminded me of something:
Many years ago, I heard a sermon in which the pastor was talking about why some people have so much trouble with a particular temptation. The line I remember him saying was the idea that, when it really came down to it, they didn’t hate their sin.
IOW, they wanted to stop it on principle, but deep down they still actually liked whatever it was they got out of it in the first place.
A simple example: a friend who wanted to quit smoking. He tried and tried without success. One day he said he went in his closet to get something and suddenly became totally disgusted with how his clothes smelled. For some reason, that made him hate smoking and he was able to quit cold turkey after that.
There’s something to that and to what you said, I think. It’s almost like Rush et al. have become so numb to what the ‘Toons really mean for our country that they’ve lost their revulsion to them.
Rush doesn't need to waste his time attempting something that the Republican Party is so good at doing already.
I’ll take the old codger over the old ***** any day.

If it wasn’t for the ‘toons, some of them would be stuck at “ZOO 98.5 FM”, playing Hannah Montana records.
Hello. Disagreeing with a person's decision is in no way an accusation that the person "lacks . . . ability to make [his] own decisions."
It's just a disagreement.
Fundamentals of logic.
I doubt that. I don't know many women who are interested in voting for Her Heinous.
“What restrictions would they put on the “do-over”? How can anything they do (other than follow the rules as written) be fair?” ~ Cracker Jack
I’m in Florida and my brother is in Michigan - we’re waiting on ‘em.

I’m not against hardball — I crossed and voted for Obama in Virgina. He’s playing the wrong tactic, not the wrong game.
Well put. Rush’s prank was a horrible idea.
