Renowned radio personality and national conservative leader, Melanie Morgan, delivered her final broadcast on talk radio powerhouse KSFO 560 AM today – Monday, March 3, 2008.

The owner of KSFO radio, Citadel Broadcasting, decided not to renew Morgan’s contract as part of the company’s announced across-the-board financial cost cutting.

Melanie Morgan has been a fixture on KSFO for the past 14 years, enjoying a run from 1994-2008 that far exceeded industry standards for longevity. During that time, Morgan emerged as one of the nation’s most dynamic conservative activists, using the radio airwaves to motivate listeners who shared her passion to take action and fight for causes important to them.

I listen to the KSFO morning crew every morning I drive to work, and although she is an “intellectual lightweight” compared to some of the men on with her, her voice and presence really added something that I missed when she was gone on vacation and such.

I’ll miss her. She was kind of a foil for the men.

but I have always thought that she comes across as an intellectual lightweight.

Same here. Lee Rodgers has Been the more informed and has a better intelectual point of view on the issues.

That said, she seems to have really built a name for herself over the last five years or so, and I would have expected KSFO to lay off Lee Rodgers instead of her.

If one of them had to go, I agree with the move they made.

he seems to work part time,

He does spend a lot of time on "Fact Finding missions." LOL.

> Where is KSFO radio?   - To All:

Where? - On FR, we need to start posting with "Who, What, Where? , How, Why... (whatever)... - Especially Where!

There are SO Many articles posted "where" you don't have a clue "where" they originate from. It may be the fault of the original source.

Anyway, #7 = KSFO 560 AM = San FRancisco, California, USA!

They had already destroyed music radio.

No great loss there.

Citadel/ABC radio has had a bad year and the bloodletting is all over the country.

Do you think this was the reason, or was there some political agenda behind the decision to dump Melanie? Who's behind "Citadel"?

I wonder if many conservative radio talk shows will eventually mostly be available only on satellite radio. There's a radio station here in the Hartford, CT area that dumped Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham in favor of truly awful (but probably cheaper) local shows. To hear the array of conservative talk show hosts I once enjoyed listening to, I will have no choice but to go with XM or Sirius...

Seconded! I cringe when I remember that some of our readers reside in other parts of the world.

Posters: Good posting policy is to at least append the initials of the U.S. state along with the city name in brackets at the end of the post unless both are mentioned in the tags.

She was also instrumental in the opposition to the Berkeley bunch that tried to “evict” the USMC recruiting office. Another avenue of potential “payback”.

I think they laid off about 2% of their staff both behind and in front of the mike, which is pretty significant.

Opinions are naturally going to vary on that. At one time, there was at least some kind of “life” coming through on music radio. Or maybe I was just young enough to think so.

I don’t live in the Bay Area. Never heard her.

Is there any audio on the web of her shows?

So true. I used to listen to music, but IMHO, 99% of what I hear these days is crap.

One interesting thing I noticed is when I stopped by a beer/burger joint (last year) I used to spend a few hours visiting in College (Class of 83), they still played the same music when I went there, 25 years ago. That ought to say something!

I knew they were going to be hurting when they took out the call-in part of the format, nothing made a morning good better than some lefty San Franciscan moron setting Lee Rodgers off at 0600.

Getting rid of Melanie is the work of fools and idiots...

That sucks. IIRC, KSFO and KGO are owned by the same company (Citadel), and KGO has some bat sh!t liberal hosts like you wouldn’t believe.

I would have to think another radio market would hire her, maybe I’m wrong though?

I agree. Too many here seem to think the greed driven corporate monopoly monstrosity that exists in the United States is some wonderful economic panacea. No. It is the marriage of big government and big business, to the point that soon no one will know where one begins and the other ends

Corporate dweebs from radio get together with corporate dweebs from the record companies and they have a 3 minute piece of crap to squeeze in between commercials. Both are losing money and can’t figure out that they are the problem. People can get what they want elsewhere and they do. Yes, in the bars, these young people are still playing songs that were big when I was a teenager in the 60s because all the new stuff is worthless in country, rock or whatever other genre you can name.
