KING Staff and Wire Reports
WOODINVILLE, Wash. - Four large homes are burning at a "Street of Dreams" model home development north of Woodinville. Snohomish County District Seven Chief Rick Eastman tells KING 5 that a sign saying ELF was left at the scene.
ELF or Earth Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for other arsons, including one at the University of Washington in 2001 for which a woman is now on trial in Tacoma.
KING
A massive fire burned at least four large homes at a "Street of Dreams" model home development north of Woodinville early Monday.
No injuries have been reported in the three-alarm fire, which started around 4 a.m. Monday.
Eastman says some of the homes were still under construction. He said one is a total loss and two homes are substantially damaged. He says fires also were set at a total of six homes.
Eastman also said that the fires are suspicious because they were set in multiple places in separate homes.
The Street of Dreams is an annual showcase of luxury homes in the Seattle area. The latest development is off Highway 522 at Echo Lake Drive.
Eastman says police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating.

Is it NOT possible to stick cameras up in trees around these sites? >br>
Actually, this is 2 miles from my house, it's a beautiful, wooded area: very hard to do more than post a trailer watch there.
We just do not see this sort of thing in Woodinville. Jay Inslee (D) is our Congressman, so there won't be any response at all from Jr. McDermott either condemming this kind of thing

Not a defense of ecoterrorism but there are a lot of people, thanks to the mortgage industry meltdown, who wish that their problems could just go up in smoke. ELF would be a convenient scapegoat.
To: RDTF
On TV they’re talking about there being several incendiary devices placed in each home - a few in the unburned homes did not go off.

That thing would be nothing but a paint-ball target in Wyoming...

Might be ELF. Might just be a strapped developer who has insurance and a keen sense of how to avoid bankruptcy.

I wonder if they drove AUTOMOBILES/SUVs to the scene and used GASOLINE to start the fires?......................

They were not yet finished... still under construction.

Right on both counts ... Beautiful homes. If they really believed their own rhetoric they should burn down their own houses first.
Anybody got an address?

I guess ELF now has problems even with “Green Homes”. The theme this year was building green. Recycled materials were used and energy efficiency was an element of every homes design. Many of the paying visitors said the green theme was almost taken too far, making the tour less interesting than past years.
Per the F.B.I. the estimated amount of destruction caused by the Echo Terrorist organization ELF is around 43 million. That total was added to this morning.

Isn’t Hussein Obamas best buddy the mad bomber in Chicago a member of one of these domestic terrorist groups?

I was just saying that we haven’t heard from Elf in a while. I guess I should have knocked on wood. Still a few of these Elf kooks out there. Still have no idea what burning down homes does to help the environment.

Funny thing is Woodinville is a long drive from Seattle. we just don't "home grow" this kind of thing. Woodinville isn't even overdeveloped by any stretch...
Only thing I can account for a local doing it is some wierd, wealthy person's kids who grew up with everything except mom and dad and are taking it out on builders.

Per a caller on KVI radio who knows one of the Realtors, one of these homes (the Mediterranean theme home) just sold last week.

Anyone know what “RCD” means in home construction terms?
Apparently the sign also said “McMansions and RCDs are NOT GREEN”.

reminds me of what happened in Maryland a year or 2 ago.

Hasn’t PETA has been a proven funds provider for ELF. If that is the case can we not treat those involved in PETA as material supporters of terrorism? That means all the whack-jorb actors that fund raise for Peta need to be heading to jail.
To: HairOfTheDog
Man, they generated a ton of greenhouse gas by doing this. How can they live with themselves?
