WOODINVILLE, Wash. - Four large homes are burning at a "Street of Dreams" model home development north of Woodinville. Snohomish County District Seven Chief Rick Eastman tells KING 5 that a sign saying ELF was left at the scene. ELF or Earth Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for other arsons, including one at the University of Washington in 2001 for which a woman is now on trial in Tacoma.
KING No injuries have been reported in the three-alarm fire, which started around 4 a.m. Monday. Eastman says some of the homes were still under construction. He said one is a total loss and two homes are substantially damaged. He says fires also were set at a total of six homes. Eastman also said that the fires are suspicious because they were set in multiple places in separate homes. The Street of Dreams is an annual showcase of luxury homes in the Seattle area. The latest development is off Highway 522 at Echo Lake Drive. Eastman says police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating.
I’d agree with you that for us in Woodinville, Seattle isn’t a long drive. But for an urbanite in Seattle, it’s on the other side of the world to drive to Woodinville
Previously I read that at least a few of these filthy ELF terrorists live in greenie-weenie Oregon. I hope they are caught and locked up for life.
What a strange (and INCORRECT) remark!
Boy, am I glad I’m moving back to the East coast next year!
I was about to agree with you until I read this line from your post: “If this was an insurance fire, why did someone burn down the pride and joy of other builders?”
The answer to that one is easy. And demonstrates what humans are easily capable of. It could have been just one of the builders that did this and burned the others to remove him from suspicion.
If I were the cops, that is one angle I would investigate.
Your post does make a strong case against it being more than one of the builders, I definitely give you that.
I agree. It's OK for a small house, urban environment, but when you're building 5,000-7,000 s.f. houses with no yards, it's just way too much mass. Certain small clusters are OK, but here in CA we're seeing entire cities springing-up on this concept and they're very isolating. Asphalt and walls.
I understand that builder had actually set aside 60 acres — 1/2 of the development —as open space. What more could you ask for?
Say WA? Evergreen State ping
FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this ping list.
Ping sionnsar if you see a Washington state related thread.
DU (all of them) think the builders couldn’t sell so they did it and framed the eco-terrorists. They can’t bring themselves to oppose terrorism.
“Left Wing Antichrist - Globalist pro Democrats!”
Those people should be treated like the terrorist they are and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
When I fly into cities I like to look at the spacing in the neighborhoods. One of the most interesting is coming into Ohare. There are new neighborhoods where the “little people” live. They almost look like townhouses. They remind me of a monopoly board with four houses on every property.
Then there are the newer neighborhoods where the “rich” live. Some have large yards, and some appear to sit in the middle of an acre each.
What is most interesting is the huge yards in the “little people” neighborhoods that are over 20 years old. They are bigger than the medium sized yards in the newer “very upper middle class” neighborhoods.
At our home in Seattle, during the spring fall and summer, our yard is an extension of our house. Our three level deck is as large or larger than most back yards today and yet it only covers a small part of our yard. The fact that all our neighbors have equally sized yards only enhances the large parklike effect.
And yet to get a NEW home the same size and price just a few blocks away I would get a 4,600 sq. ft. lot. No wonder rechargeable lawn mowers are even thinkable - when you only have to mow a couple hundred square feet. Scissors would probably work ok.
