Democratic Base Fissures
Although attention has been focused on McCain's problems with the GOP base, there are indications that some Democrats might defect if Obama is the party's nominee. Overall, 20% of white Democratic voters say they would vote for McCain if Obama is the Democratic nominee. That is twice the percentage of white Democrats who say they would support McCain in a Clinton-McCain matchup. Older Democrats (ages 65 and older), lower-income and less educated Democrats also would support McCain at higher levels if Obama rather than Clinton is the party's nominee.

See my earlier post about NJ election results. Hillary won NJ by pulling in overwhelming margins in the largely blue collar white suburbs facing Philly and the blue collar precincts in Middlesex County and other parts of the state.
Asians and Hispanics are not a large enough factor in most states, with the latter being especially minimalize by low voter registration. With the Asians, the only states where they have strong political (as opposed to financial) influence are California and Hawaii, and Barry O won Hawaii.
Nevertheless, low Hispanic support for Barry O should give us New Mexico and Colorado quite easily. I still see Calipornia as being a tough nut to crack.
And maybe they're on to something...

Great, we’ll wind up a blue collar, downwardly mobile, economically socialist/socially moderate party. Guess what portion of the population is declining the fastest in this country. After Episcopalians, its blue collar white men in the northeast/upper midwest.

Not at all guaranteed. If McCain wins, the leftists on the Court may well hold out for another term, desperately hoping that a Democrat is elected.
McCain may be too “right wing” for them.
That would be interesting considering I don’t believe blacks make up 25% of the population.
