Democratic Base Fissures
Although attention has been focused on McCain's problems with the GOP base, there are indications that some Democrats might defect if Obama is the party's nominee. Overall, 20% of white Democratic voters say they would vote for McCain if Obama is the Democratic nominee. That is twice the percentage of white Democrats who say they would support McCain in a Clinton-McCain matchup. Older Democrats (ages 65 and older), lower-income and less educated Democrats also would support McCain at higher levels if Obama rather than Clinton is the party's nominee.

Generally white people would have big problems voting for a black for President. And, Obama’s wife is a deal-breaker.

Who says Democrats dont have racist tendencies. Of course they have racist tendencies. It is a core belief. For slavery. For segregation. For affirmative action. Democrats can't be democrats without racial discrimination.

I have long said that there are a percentage of people from both sides who WILL vote for him because he is black, and a percentage of people from both sides who WON’T vote for him because he is black.
Just as there are people who will or won’t vote for Hillary because she is a woman.
For expressing this truth, I was labeled a racist by a poster. Granted, I think he misunderstood me and thought I was saying there were only conservatives who wouldn’t vote for a candidate because he was black.

Look at the demographics. It's southern democrats. It means McCain wins the south by even larger margins than he would have otherwise. Doesn't help the electoral college unless some of these voters live in Ohio, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Missouri, Arkansas, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin (off the top of my head).
In fact, this would explain why recent polling is showing McCain ahead of Hussein in popular vote but way behind in the electoral vote.

J,
I can’t believe you fell for that poll! It’s a race-baiter poll. Typical MSM trying to polarize black and white by feeding them crap polls.

I love my mom, who’s a democrat. She would definitely vote for Hillary, but I don’t think she would ever vote for Obama.
