Sorry to hear that. I cannot believe that this happened, but then again half the Doctors I have seen in the past year have all been foreign born and are just bringing hometown methods to the USA
I am literally crying from frustration.
My mom is 77 years old, and a regular patient on dialysis. When speaking to her this morning, it became apparent that she doesn’t even recognize the risk she has been exposed to.
She thinks the vaccines will “cure” Hep C. She says her step-son who was murdered two years ago was HIV positive, and she never caught it from him, so she is not worried.
She has NO understanding of infectious blood diseases, how they are transmitted or what the dangers are..... I haven’t the strength to explain it right now!
It’s...breathtaking NN- and it’s been going on at this facility for Y E A R S.
How this is even possible, I simply cannot comprehend. I can’t stop thinking about it- it’s just so..so.. beyond BELIEF.

I would suspect the cross infections came from scopes and not the needles. Anesthesia is injected into a running IV line far away from the actual site of infusion into a vein. The chance of infection from blood borne pathogens in this scenario would be hard to explain. The article makes it sound like intravenous needles were reused and I know this is not the case. There is usually about three feet of IV tubing between the site of injection and where the intravenous needle actually enters a vein.

Have her get a lawyer, it is all over the news how everyone that went to this clinic is getting a lawyer, especially if she is going through a series of shots.
What are the side effects of these shots, did they tell her.
No they didn't tell her. She is totally clueless, and I am 700 miles away with very little information. She will be out of the country for the next 10 days on a much needed cruise (they do dialysis onboard ship.)
I feel so ill informed and helpless, I can only imagine what she and her 89 year old husband are feeling.
We will have to address it when she returns. Thanks all for the prayers and well wishes.
What value can 40,000 lawyers accomplish in this case? What entity has the money to pay all those lawyers? Med mal policies all have caps. Whose pockets are next--Las Vegas local government/citiznes? State government/citizens? Federal government/citizens?

this is absolutely outrageous.....there also saying that the same cleaner solution was used to “clean” endoscopes between patients...maybe the germs were killed but the thought of that is so unsettling..
Sorry, but no one can be that stupid. There probably was some sort of malicious intent involved. Stuff like this violates the most fundamental protocols of medicine.
Time to get rid Mr. Labus and replace him with an investigator not blinded by political correctness.
