I only caught some of the debate, but it was a disaster for Hillary Clinton. She skipped over questions that discomforted her--and boy, were there a lot of them. She was tedious, exhibiting an instinct for the capillaries that had to have had her supporters cringing in agony. Was it really worth it to whine about how she got the first question and then bring up the Saturday Night Live about the media showing favoritism towards Obama? To be sure, the skit was right and Hillary Clinton had reason to complain, but if she didn't actually believe that she would come out of that exchange looking badly, she has learned nothing whatsoever from her time on the campaign trail.
Equally horrible was the comment about how she just doesn't have time to release her taxes, or that Barack Obama was not sufficiently anti-anti-Semitic when he said that he "denounced" Louis Farrakhan as opposed to "rejecting" Farrakhan. Really, the whole thing was pathetic beyond measure. I know that it is common practice to believe that Hillary Clinton is The Smartest Woman In The World, or something along those lines. But her side of the debate looked clumsy, amateurish and dumb beyond measure.
Meanwhile, Obama was cool, confident, comfortable in his own skin and looked like a winner. I take no joy in writing that because I would much rather have John McCain face Hillary Clinton in the general election; it would be a far easier campaign for McCain to win, after all. But despite my earlier confidence that somehow, someway, Hillary Clinton would find a way to pull through, it is obvious that it's just not going to happen. One way or the other, Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee.
And Republicans will be in for an epic battle. Don't believe me? Then read this. No, Barack Obama is not Ronald Reagan. But he stands to profit from being underestimated by his foes just as Reagan did. Perhaps someone would want to see to it that such a luxury is denied Obama.
Assuming that Republicans want to win, of course.
2 Kings 9:32 "And Jehu lifted up his face to the window and said 'who is on my side? who?!" and there looked out at him 2 or 3 eunuchs (no balls) and he said "throw her down!" So they threw her down:
I only caught the last few minutes of the debate. But I nearly puked over Russert's giddiness in the post-debate analysis, as to how he got Hillary to publicly "take back" her Iraq vote.
90% of this year's election has been about the "horse race", and 10% on the issues. The Fourth Estate should be ashamed of themselves, instead they're breaking their arms from patting themselves on their backs.
As we all know, Hillary's delay in producing her tax return is pure obfuscation. Is there any Senator or Congress critter that prepares their own return?
The day the tax code is simplified is the day after Senators and Congressman enact a law that requires them to personally fill out their own income tax returns.
That's why I'm spending the rest of my career focusing on tax accounting. It's a necessary evil that touches everyone, so I figure that's a safe, reliable way to stay employed.
Strategy?
Strategy?
Conservatives have a strategy?
Would that not involve at least two conservatives to agree, and then work together??
Never happen GI
McCain will have to resort to standing on precedence!!
Bill Clinton never released his medical records.
Thats not what I said. I was laughing at the tough questions, but I was waiting for the tough ones to Obama to balance out the night, and they just did not come. A debate moderator should not be agenda driven, if that agenda was to appear to favor one candidate and destroy the other. Which is the impression I got.
I have a newspaper in front of me I saved from long ago.
Tacoma News Tribune
December 20, 1998
Headline: CLINTON IMPEACHED
I am counting the days when I can add to this, a paper with the headline, CLINTON DROPS OUT signaling the final end to the idol worship of the Clintons, and the day she is left on the ash-heap of forgotten also-rans and her cheating husband is left with no legacy at all. But the media selecting the Democrat challenger by overly promoting him bothers me. Seems like thats how McCain came up from battling Fred Thompson for the #4 spot just 8 weeks ago to being the only candidate left standing.
It would take months of whiting out numbers SHE doesn't want us to see.
That’s no way to treat a (former first) lady....
This election season has turned what otherwise would be a very cold (Global Cooling!) Winter into one of some enjoyment. Hillary’s demise almost compensates.
That's tough sh!t on her part. In that infamous MSNBC debate last fall Russert asked the question about whether or not Hillary Clinton supported the plan by the governor of New York to give drivers' licenses to illegal aliens. It was a direct question, a relevant one (illegal immigration has been a major political topic in the U.S. in recent years, and Clinton is, after all, one of the U.S. senators from New York), and it was an absolutely unbiased question.
The Clinton campaign spent the better part of the following week personally attacking Russert, suggesting that he and the other candidates had "ganged up on her" because she was the only woman on the stage, etc.
Eff every one of them. Russert had absolutely every reason to treat this woman as the steaming pile of horse sh!t that she is. In fact, I think he was very mild in his approach. If I were in his position, the first question I would have asked would have been: "Hey, Hillary -- why in heaven's name did you show up here for this debate wearing so much makeup? Did you need a highway crew to paint that sh!t on, or what?"
>> Tim Russert went into this debate with an agenda to attack Hillary from the opening bell, and that he did.
I’m not a Tim Russert fan, but I thought he did a good job on BOTH candidates. he didn’t shy away from tough questions and he was pretty good about keeping them to the question instead of letting them wander and spin.
Brian Williams, on the other hand, was his usual wussy self.
This might be the case in the Rational, Paralell Universe way over there, but in THIS universe, in this Oprafied country, all bets are off. The media will absolutely cover for him. Just like they did for the Clintons for so long (until Obama came along that is). The country will elect the man who makes them feel all warm and fuzzy, despite the fact that he is absolutely an empty shirt. It is the final triumph of symbolism over substance. Any attack on him will be analyzed and dissected until a possible racial motive can be derived from it and thus denounced.
Are you KIDDING me? This guy has just DESTROYED Hillary, he has CRUSHED the Clinton Legacy. The CLINTONS! The "greatest" (Dirtiest) politicians this country has ever known! He (along with his sychophants) will make mince meat out of McCain.
I will happily eat my shirt and take a picture of myself out in public, shirtless, with the words "Obama's better than my Momma" written on my chest, if McCain were to somehow win.
he’ll have as much success at unifiying the country as Clinton, Bush and Reagan. It is impossible, and cannot be done. When he raises taxes and forfeits the WOT, he will have 50% of the country as fierce enemies. Frankly, he already does. I will never unite with a Marxist America Hater. That’s all he is.
Russert called Clinton on her pledge of creating 200,000 jobs for upstate NY, when it actually had a net loss (60,000?).
She responded well with saying that was because algore wasn’t elected.
notice how he pronounces Farrakhan and pakistan like an arab
Badger, we got work to do........our own ( could be trolls) need to understand McCain ain’t perfect but he ain’t a death sentence such as Hillary or Obama would be.
..BTW, there is a floating thread blaming Hill/Obama on the economic downturn that is excellent...........
...I’ll be in and out as business calls but thenI’m coming to FR loaded for Kodiac bear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While McCain is about as far from what I consider an ideal candidate, he is a campaigner, and he has a few things going for him. We are at war, older people won’t vote for BO, Hispanics are not going to be excited about BO, and frankly, Obama is so far left, it would be a huge gaffe if McCain cannot win a good portion of the middle voters. Obama will be tough, and has the media on his side. I think McCain has a real shot, but it is going to be a difficult battle.
Really? McCain voted against the AARP/WH supported Medicare Prescription Drug program. You can bet that will be brought up by Obama.
