Appearing on Thursday's 1pm hour of MSNBC News Live, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews couldn't resist taking a few swipes at Rush Limbaugh. After anchor Peter Alexander played a clip of the conservative talk show host discussing the New York Times story on John McCain, Matthews irritably claimed, "Rush Limbaugh is irrelevant here. Irrelevant. He doesn't know anything more than what he read in the New York Times."
The radio clip, from todays edition of Limbaugh's program, featured the host urging the presidential candidate to learn a lesson from the front-page New York Times story speculating about a improper relationship with a D.C. lobbyist. In the clip, Limbaugh argued that Republicans should learn never to trust the liberal-leaning news media as they will always turn to help Democrats.
Matthews's apparent annoyance at Limbaugh might have something to do with being mentioned in the clip. At one point during the monologue, Limbaugh asserted, "[McCain] has thought Chris Matthews and these other people in the drive-by media, are his friends. They aren't."

Matthews spat on Michele Malkin.
Rush has more listeners in his three hours than MSNBC has all week.
Well it would be close but Rush probably does have more listeners in 3 hours then MSNBC has all week. None of their shows attract more then about 250-300,000 viewers
I’m still waiting for the “duel” with Zell Miller!
Hey Chris, just because Rush knows more than you doesn’t make him irrelevant. Makes you a non-issue.
“He and Keith Olbermann need to team up and do a show piped only into insane asylums, psychologist office waiting rooms, and the homes of people under house arrest.”
Oh the horror, the HORROR!
Bwahahahahahahaha
He and Keith Olbermann need to team up and do a show piped only into insane asylums, psychologist office waiting rooms, and the homes of people under house arrest.
Oh the horror, the HORROR!

Upon reflection, they may reach the bulk of that audience with their current programs.
Rushs audience is reported at 13 million + per week, NOT 13 million + per day.
In your dreams, Matthews. Shall we compare Limbaugh’s audience with yours?
I like morning joe sometimes
Limbaugh - 20 million listeners per week. matthews - less than 2 million hardvall viewers per week.
Now, that's funny!
No, he has always encouraged everyone to vote as they please, but to make it an informed vote. Do not delude yourself to justify your vote, etc.
yes they are decided by the middle. That’s why battleground states are so important.
And McCain would be much better with the base than romney, rudy or huckabee. Romney and Rudy would have turned off the evangelicals and Huckabee would have turned off the fiscal conservatives who want less spending.
usually a candidate wins the primary by appealing to the right and moves to the middle for the general. The problem is that weakens the base.
Because mccain won the primary by appealing to the middle all these years, he can actually afford to move to the right and fire up the base as we get closer to november.
I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for that correction.
I guess Peter Alexander probably got another one reamed after Matthews ended that segment. How dare he have a clip of Rush using Matthews name as one in the media who is untrustworthy! I love it!
I don’t know about that, but I’d bet the farm that in a fair fight of any kind Ann would take the weenie Mathews.
Fact is I have an 8 year old nephew that could whip him.
Who is this Chris Matthews? Is he a sports person?
