< sigh > you know, we’re going to “principle” our way to pure hell for EIGHT years, NOT FOUR, of Democratic lunacy. The situation is clear:
*because of our infighting in the primaries, we’re now stuck with McCain
*McCain is NOT EXACTLY the same as Hillary/Obama. Similarities yes, but not the same.
*the next president will get to nominate 2, maybe even 3 SC justices to the bench.
*as bad as McCain is, there is simply NO ARGUMENT, THAT MAKES SENSE, THAT SAYS MCCAIN’S NOMINEES WILL BE AS BAD AS HILLARY’S/OBAMA’S
That, combined with the fact that McCain will prosecute the WoT much more effectively than Hillary would leads any reasonable person to say, “I’m not going to act like a CHILD, and say I’m not voting for McCain because I didn’t get my candidate in there, rather, I’m going to act like an ADULT, and realize that, unless I want the SC SCREWED UP for the next 30 years, and absolutely NOTHING done on the WoT, I’m going to HAVE to vote for McCain!”
As I’ve said previously, no one likes that McCain is in the drivers seat for the nomination, and it would take a miracle to stop that now, but it’s time to act like adults and deal with reality. The only reason the “revolution of ‘94” happened was because conservatives realized they were snookered by ol’ big ears down in Texas in ‘92, and realized it’s best to affect change from WITHIN the party, not by standing by and letting the party be DESTROYED from the outside!
Thus, it’s not an analogous situation today. We have no 3rd party spoiler to blame. We only have OURSELVES to blame; so to think that letting a Dem win to “teach the RNC a lesson” is foolhardy. There’s no lesson to learn other than the most basic of all: Quit fighting so much in the primaries and maybe we can get behind REAL conservatives sooner! But again, that’s a lesson for 2012.
TODAY, it’s time to suck it up, act like an adult, and do the RESPONSIBLE thing, or has this site suddenly become a site to promote Democrats to office, simply to “teach the RNC a lesson”? Funny, I can’t remember a time when it was EVER acceptable to even SUGGEST voting FOR a Democrat on FR.
"Bipartisanship" Is A Dirty Word; and RUSH: "We want to defeat them" explains very clearly why I will NEVER accept McCain.
Yawn... like I said this old bit... Sorry most republicans (especially the ones we elected to win the house and senate ) are affected when people call them cry babies and such. I do not represent anyone but myself. You are using the same tactic to flees conservatives out of their votes and donations like you have for about 15 years.
I am not running away from anyone, I am choosing to use my time, money and passion to enact the change we want to see through other means. We tried it your way all we got was mealy mouthed leaders like hastert, lott, and the like. Your side got their agenda’s met. We didnt. nevertheless you want us still to do it all over again.
You can loose all the money and the election on your own. The difference is this time is that we KNOW the candidate will not represent us from the outset.
So go back to your little room and figure out a way to elect the people you want to elect without taking care of your base. We not only survived clinton I we were quite successful at destroying his agenda.
It isn't and that's the reason why.
McCains conservative record.
Shouldn't you know his record?
Then, I suggest you stop it.
Let me repeat, oh fixated one.
America is the true classless society.
Jefferson and Lincoln told you so.
Wow, another member of the suicide squad who thinks that if you don’t agree with them it’s because you think McCain is the second coming of Reagan. Another member of the suicide squad who thinks Bud Day is a traitor to the United States.
Predictable, but still sad.
Karl Marx said “classless society”
Lincoln and Jefferson never used that phrase.
Like I said, you’re the type of guy who’d pick Jimmmy Carter over FDR and pat yourself on the back for beign such a great citizen.
Strong defense is only a portion of what one looks for in a Conservative- One who is deficit in other respects, regardless of his military credentials is to be rejected. So, in a word, yes it is conservative to reject a candidate who is not Conservative, thereby accepting the inept Democrat.
Now might you answer a question for me? What makes you think that putting a traitorous bastard in command would be any better? Shall our troops be forced to salute one so devoid of honor simply because he is "our" traitorous bastard?
Get a clue. There is an active attempt by the fringe including Windbag to sabotage the election. We ignore it at our own peril.
To: hiredhandMaybe we will just have to win over even more of the center and cut the right out of the GOP entirely. A public disassociation of the extremists, particularly the anti-immigrant jihadis, will the best course of action.
You people are right. The GOP has learned its lesson from 2006: the party cannot count on the votes of the fringe so we will have to forge a new coalition - the McCain coalition. Good luck wandering in the wilderness for the next ...oh, forever or so.

And let me repeat: “all men are created equal” means no recognition of any class system (i.e., classless).
What policies and positions do you think Mike Huckabee would champion in order to bring about to preserve a ‘classless society’?
With all your rantings about Megastockholders and Megacorporations and then going on about ‘fighting for a classless society’ I wondered how this would be different than the many others in the last century who ‘fought for a classless society’ by nationalizing the means of production and abolishing private property.
And when confronted with ‘classless society’ being a DIRECT quote from Karl Marx you said that was not the case (it is) and tried to claim it was a quote from Lincoln or Jefferson (it isn’t).
Do you admit that
a) Karl Marx wrote that phrase ‘classless society’ hundreds of times; and
b) Lincoln or Jefferson never actually used that particular phrase and neither did they mean or believe in what most people who use that particular phrase mean or believe (i.e. instituting Communism)?
You keep going on about how Jefferson or Lincoln believed all men are created equal, and attempting to conflate that belief with them actually saying that there was a need in the U.S.A. to ‘fight for a classless society’.
It is despicable to besmirch these two men by trying to pass off Communist rhetoric as an actual quote (your first attempt) or as something implicit in their beliefs (your backup strategy). And now you say it is Rush Limbaugh who lacks intelligence? That is almost funny.
Yes it is “interesting” in more ways than one. In fact, three.
Lincoln raised himself up by his bootstraps to be the “log cabin to White House” American success story. This type of democratic republicanism puts to shame the ruling monarchies of his day — as well as puts to shame Karl Marx’s idea that once you are in the lower worker class, you can never rise above it. American capitalism and republican democracy. It works.
Sounds good.
