Hillary Clinton's most senior advisers are in a state of "panic" about her presidential prospects and are plotting to enlist Democrat leaders in Congress to thwart her rival Barack Obama's ambitions.

The Clinton camp hopes to stop the Obama bandwagon by winning Texas and Ohio primaries on March 4, after which Mrs Clinton is planning to call on party grandees including Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Harry Reid, the party's leader in the Senate, to persuade Mr Obama to stand down.

I agree Hillary would not want Obama as her running mate. However circumstances may get away from her and she may have no choice but to choose him to keep the party from being torn apart. Kennedy and Johnson hated each other but he thought he needed the Texan to win. Could be the same here. I agree. No way is Obama choosing Hillary. He will not have to. He would have already killed the witch.

If conservatives started saying right now that they all supported McCain 100%, he would have no reason to pursue them. I want to see conservative voters pursued and convinced by McCain so we will not be ignored by him.

I hear what you are saying, but don’t agree with the approach because malaise will cost congressional seats. We need to make it clear we oppose socialism and that the democratic party is now the socialist party. If we can be successful then McCain would realize he needs to get on board.

I just want to explicitly point something out. I'm talking about voting in the Democratic PRIMARY, since the GOP nomination is pretty much in John McCain's hands. I'm still voting for McCain in the general. McCain wasn't my choice, but IMHO his 65 ACU rating from 2006 is still better than what the other side is going to offer.

So, in that light, what I'm doing is taking advantage of the GOP nomination race being over with and selecting which Dem I'd rather have in the WH if a Dem is going to win regardless. Given the three viable candidates left in this race, my preference is McCain, then Obama then Billary. I consider what I'm doing to be an effective use of my primary vote as a hedge.

No, I think that quote was referring to McCain’s running mate. “They” (democrats) are supposedly worried that McCain will peel off some of the black votes if he chooses a black running mate like JC or Powell. I’m not buying it. I think it would be a really bad move for him but I would much rather see Watts on the ticket (or even better, Steele) than Powell. Powell would be another poke in the eye to conservatives.

In today's news comes word that Hillary and Bill are forcing the DNC to recognize Hillary's wins in states primaries that the Dems de-certified for voting too early. There is nothing the Clintons won't use to win.

I completely agree with this. McCain has stuck his finger in the eyes of Conservatives enough over the course of his career that the onus is on him to reach out, mend fences and EARN the votes of Conservatives.

OTOH, Conservatives should at least give him, and other reputable Conservatives who are now supporting him, a chance to work to mend those fences.
