Glad you went. Congrats on being elected a delegate! It looks like quite a few FReepers or one of their family members will be a delegate at the county/district level, which is great! I’m looking forward to it - it will be the first time for me to be one.

The news just said they’re waiting for the results from the WA state (and I think Nebraska) caucuses - so looks like they’ll be reporting them. From the Dim caucus place I drove by and a couple of other reports, sounds like the Dims had a huge turnout.

Thankfully.

I lived on South Hill in Spokane for 10 years.

I don’t really get the voting for a candidate who can’t win thing. Because Romney’s campaign is suspended, he can’t win any more delegates, which means he can’t win the nomination.

I was a Romney backer, but now that he’s out I still want my vote to count. Between Huckabee and McCain, I think Huckabee is a billion times better. If Huckabee were to have a huge comeback, it would send a message and we’d end up with an almost okay candidate. Maybe a Huckabee/Hunter ticket.

It’s too bad we didn’t pull together in the beginning. Because we (conservatives) were so indecisive (and were looking for the “perfect” candidate) we split our support, which is the only reason McCain is winning. We should of agreed upon Hunter or Fred.

I grew up in Yakima. Lived in SoCal for about 20 years. Now in east King County.

I think our guy said something like that as well. Could not hear clearly in the echo of the gymnasium. I also spoke up to the room, noting the need to unite behind one guy. Huckabee is the guy still running, and with all his warts (he sure wasn’t my first, second, or third choice) is unfortunately conservatives’ best hope, albeit a slim one, to take out John McCain. We voted accordingly.

>>>I think everyone who was going to vote for Mitt, should do so anyway!<<<

Done. My reasoning...If not Fred, Never McCain, so it's Mitt.

It was explained to us that we could vote for Romney, but because he suspended his campaign, he could not be awarded delegates.

That certainly would have made my choice easy: Huckaphony, not because I support him but as a protest vote against McCain. But I'm in NM and we don't get to decide until our early summer summer primary and it will very likely be all over by then.

Love those Yakima cherries.

So, do you have a bunker from the looming volcanoes scheduled to go off?

Though I suppose baked family is not an attractive option, either! LOL.

I was in Spokane for Mt St Helens. Weird being dark at mid-day.

Maybe the results of what people wrote on the sign-in sheet is what is going to be reported as a candidate "winning" or "losing" the WA caucuses, because I don't see how the "delegates" that were "elected" can be reported as a "result". Some precincts had less delegates "elected" than they were allotted and one had no one show up at all! I wonder how the media are going to report this. The sign-in sheet is completely meaningless. It has nothing whatsoever to do with who was elected to be a delegate and how they are going to vote at the conventions.

This is such a load of CRAP!

Where's that second beer........

>>> I don’t see much point in conservatives expecting to have any kind of voice in the GOP.<<<

Our influence with the Republican Party has been on the wain since about two years into the Bush administration.

However, we can have some influence on McCain. at least he thinks he needs us to get elected. [I'm not sure that's true!?] The point of voting for Mitt or Thompson in the primaries is to drive home to McCain he better cultivate some conservative principles if he wants our help.

Plenty of time to back him later if that is your decision.

Kinda frustrating when our whole state (Oregon here) is judged by the big city Seattle/Portland.

Many conservatives live rural in the PNW.

Just peeled off the Fred Thompson sticker that has been on my truck since last July. It will not be replaced by a McCain sticker.

My friend who works for the Obama campaign e-mailed me a few hrs ago...he says Hillary is in for another really bad night but the Clinton campaign already have releases going out saying she is focusing on big prize states in Ohio and Texas and Tuesday where she could win the big states then.

Internal polling is showing Hillary is going to lose Maine tomorrow as well.

I voted for Huckabee, warts and all, and became a delegate. I’m not a big Huck fan, but see him as the best hope not only to do the things you mentioned, but also as the best chance - a thin one, to be sure - to dereil John McCain. With Romney out, Huckabee is the guy. If Huckabee had gotten out, Romney would be that guy. They are about the same to me, w/Huckabee slightly better on social issues/trade and Romney slightly better on domestic economy.

Heck we were split in our own home. Mitt and Hunter.

Huck is on tv now saying his campaign is drawing big buck daily and support.

Heard a talking head say he cannot get enough delegates to beat McCain at this point. (dunno how true that is or not)
Another THead said if Huck starts getting State wins now it will send a message to the party that we are not laying down and taking MSM crap that McCain is it and all should back out.
This is the craziest turn by State primary election I ever remember since I got into political events in my adult years.
