Now it’s time for McCain to do the right thing and put Fred on the ticket. (And after the election, Dick Cheney can take McCain hunting).

I like the way you think.

Yeah, right. Two old pharts beyond the age of 60, both with bouts of cancer currently in remission or under control who will remind voters of their grandfathers. That will go over well with the young electorate, won't it?

That's good. In all seriiousness, I can't say that I'm surprised. If McCain knows what's good for him he will choose Fred as his VP hoping to rally conservatives. It's his only hope.

I think FRED could calm to old guy down. The longer we all resist jumping on board, the more ammunition we give the other side. I wanted FRED right from the beginning, it just wasn’t meant to be. FRED could balance the ticket quite well and maybe bring some common sense to McCain’s administration. Someone once posted that FRED was a great supporting character.

Maybe this is the best way to have a great man in a great position to provide common sense ideas to a questionable administration. AND THE ALTERNATIVE? HILLARY? OBAMA?

Wake up and smell the roses folks...it is certainly not the way we wanted it...but Ronald Reagan did not win the first time out...took him four years.

I for one would back that ticket! McCain/Thompson...yup, I could back that ticket. Think of all the positives rather than the negatives. We can hold his feet to the fire if he begins to stray off course. FRED would certainly be able to talk him off the edge in a tight position. I would rather have FRED there that Bill Clinton for example.

LET’S ALL LAY DOWN OUR NEGATIVE OPINIONS AND THINK POSITIVE. I KNOW IT IS DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, BUT WE ARE THE PARTY OF HOPE AND FORESIGHT! COME ON FOLKS!

It’s just my opinion...want a piece of Pecan Pie?

Fred is gone from the scene, probably relishing the circumstances so he can get on with the life he really want to have. IMHO, McCain should (and perhaps will) bring a true Conservative in as VP and heir apparent. My guess = George Allen.

Why are people surprised that everyone and their sister is endorsing the presumptive nominee? Fred stayed neutral while the race was still going on, presumably because there wasn't anyone worth endorsing.

Now it’s time for McCain to do the right thing and put Fred on the ticket.

Seems fairly unlikely to me. But more likely than some of the other names floating around.

That is the ONLY thing that could possibly make me consider voting for McCain — Thompson as his VP pick.
