Fred Thompson, the one-time Republican presidential candidate, endorsed Sen. John McCain Friday, calling on the party to "close ranks" behind the presumed nominee

Yeah, right. Two old pharts beyond the age of 60, both with bouts of cancer currently in remission or under control who will remind voters of their grandfathers. That will go over well with the young electorate, won't it?
Them’s the breaks.

Yes, yes it is. Which is why none of the three are even remotely acceptable choices.
I agree. McCain has the numbers. Fred is just trying to rally the troops...as they all will.
“You are the exact people that have run this party into the ground.”
Very well and very accurately put. And I second that emotion directed at the surrender monkeys: “Shut it” (please).
Don’t knock yourself out over it. We all thought he was a true conservative. Regardless, you put your money where your mouth was. That was the important thing.
Someone posted it in a FR thread so I googled.... I hope I am wrong, even if it means being hated by everyone here for being such a fool!
With Hillary, that makes 3. Except in Hill’s case, she is the cancer.
“(if you can stand all the crime, which is difficult)”
Shouldn’t you be saying “If you can survive all the crime”??
Once Mccain gets enough delegates to put him over the top, I expect Romney will do the same. In the mean time, Romney's suspension means that if something happened to McCain (blow up, fopah, sickness, heart attack, stroke, etc.) Romney could step right back into it, retaining the delegates he has.
Despite the serious issues with McCain...and they are serious (like immigration, global warming, etc., etc.)...and despite his temperment and disdain for conservatives, and despite many of us having such great disgust for him over these issues... McCain would continue aggressively prosecuting actual military opeations in the war, he would hold the ground on abortions of fetuses in the womb, and he would be much better for the SCOTUS than either of the democrats. So the GOP leadership and candidates will rally around him because in those later areas, the democrats would be far worse.
Not to mention that Fred not only voted for McCain's CFR, but he was instrumental in getting it past, he was No 3 in after McCain and Feingold in supporting and pushing it through.
This is no surprise. BFD!
GO Fred GO!
You’ve probably seen this already but I was unaware of this group until recently.

Ah, gotcha. I misunderstood your intentions.
Fred’s greatest flaw as a candidate for me was always the company that he kept when he served in the Senate. I still think Fred was the best choice given the choices, but I am not surprised. Fred, I suspect would eventually have still endorsed McCain, even if Romney could have taken a competitive race to the convention.
FR is infested with whacko extremists. This campaign has been a real revelation.
LOL! You like McCain now?
