Fred Thompson, the one-time Republican presidential candidate, endorsed Sen. John McCain Friday, calling on the party to "close ranks" behind the presumed nominee

Wow, for someone who “doesnt understand”, you sure hit the nail on the head!
“Also I don’t think the world will end if the Rats win”
Neither do I, but I think that’s the only thing mclame has....fear of the “other”. Otherwise, his well is dry.
Kennedy-McCain Amnesty legislation
McCain-Edwards-Kennedy Patients Bill of Rights
McCainFeingold Campain Finance Reform
McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act of 2003
Also, Fred would never endorse Huckabee, the only other choice left. I think he doesn’t want the Left to get in and lose the war for us.
Wait for the Anti-Christ to show up. Then there will be 2 parties once again. Good/Evil. And no, I’m not kidding =).
how substantive of you. and so informed.....be sure to ‘ping me’ once you’ve figured it all out.
-butt wipe-
anyone can chose to sit out, that leaves those who vote to decide on who the president is. if you cannot understand the logic of that than I can’t help you. it is not manipulation, it is logic.
I assume you have not forgotten the 1976 primary and Republican convention. We got screwed then and wound up with a peanut farmer for a President.
cute
I wasn't aware there were any traitors on the Republican ballot, but I guess it depends on what you define as treason. The only treasonous behavior I've seen is on the Democrat side, not the Republican.
Do you think that any of our military folks would consider ANY of the Republicans traitors? I'd think they'd welcome any Republican as CIC over ANY Democrat.
Hmmm.... I must say you sound convincing... it sounds good.. but there is a BUT somewhere that I can not find yet -LOL
Two things: Why do you say 'No Child Left Behind,' was a mistake?... It sounds very good to me in concept. I heard of problems with it as one would expect but why a mistake?.. We all know the stories of our H.S Graduates who writhe like me :), so something had to be done, or not?
Also, what do you think was the PRIMARY reason GW did not run - as he should have done it - to seal/secure the border after 9/11 when it was perceived the same people could cross the border and use somehing really nasty to harm us? And so we went to war just to do that, as GW said it, to protect us from these people?... Never could understand the contradition in those actions. Or is it just that he put ahead the interest of agro businesses which benefited from cheap labor? is it that simple?
Oh, and as to the Supreme Court... GW blew it, please don't remind me!:) .. It was literally a miracle that we were someone able to get Alito :)
That stance has been rendered moot by new research, and I doubt if any new attempts to do it would pass a Congress with a few more conservatives in it.
Vote mclame or die!
“Hi death, nice to meet you”!
“Didn’t think it would come this soon, but apparently, I had a decision to make”
“What, you mean it? You’re taking me to Jesus? Really? Boy, I had some doubts, if I was good enough”.
“What do you mean my last decision sealed the deal? I didn’t choose evil and used my free will the good Lord gave me to make the right decision”?
Whew!!!
Everyone in the race was played. Unfortunately McCain wound up as the default candidate for liberals and mushy middle independents. To me McCain has four strikes against him, not withstanding his hotheaded temper.
Kennedy-McCain Amnesty legislation
McCain-Edwards-Kennedy Patients Bill of Rights

McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act of 2003
Can we expect to see more of the same if he is elected President?
Well, the liberals all hate No Child Left Behind, so maybe it’s not all bad. But I think education is best left to the states, communities and parents. In an ideal world the Department of Ed would be abolished.
But it’s not an ideal world, so the question is, should a politician use his “political capital” on that, or on lowering taxes, or on solving the energy crisis, or on making good judicial appointments?
You can’t do it all, because every good deed builds more resistance, so you have to do what is most urgent and important first.
The problem we have with Freedom is that too many people prey on the less fortunate with their Freedom and so some controlling government does need to be in place. The trick will be to make it limited. It can still be done but the opportunist want to keep the polarization strong to keep us from working together to make Freedom work.
Well, if the Constitution Party gets big enough to sway elections, well and good. That might happen if the Republican Party succeeds in destroying itself.
Or if the Constitution Party endorses some conservative Republicans but refuses to endorse RINOs, that could conceivably do some good, although possibly also some damage in states where RINOs are all that is possible, so the thing you want is decent RINOs.
But if the Constitution Party just wants to replicate the Ross Perot movement, then no thanks.
Fred ran a bad campaign and was also running in a fractured field of candidates. He was supposed to be more more palatable to conservatives and guess what? They didn’t vote for him. If they had backed him instead of the Bible thumper then we would be having a different discussion right now. One Rudy went down then everyone else’ fate was sealed.
People around here just don’t want to admit that the “base” isn’t what they claim it is. And, too many people want ideoogically pure candidates instead of ones that could win national elections and offer them much of what they want. Instead it has to be 100% on their 2-3 issues and if they don’t get what they want they throw a hissy fit.
Other thoughts:
Business people wanted Romney
Thumpers went with Huck
Moderates and Independants (aka RINOs according the chosen ones” went with McCain
Too many conservatives spent their time promoting guys with bad campaigns and ripping on anyone that wasn’t their guy. Now they have no one running who really gives a crap about their issues and that sucks.
LOL.......
I may not vote either, but if I don’t I AM leaving the election to the ones that do. Just a fact.
In truth, Heaven will free us from such things. Short of that prayer and fasting is our only other option now. It’s a miracle we need.
What I said earlier is that Cheney and Bush came out for McCain several days earlier than Thompson. They helped put the seal of approval on McCain as a done deal.
Thompson waited a few days longer. He COULD have endorsed McCain before Super Tuesday, but he didn’t.
So I find it hard to believe that Thompson was nothing but McCain’s Trojan Horse. If he had been purely working for McCain, he probably would have endorsed a little earlier, like the governors of Florida, Texas, and California. But coming out now is just accepting reality.
