This for all of you "die-hard Reagan Republicans" out there ... you know, the ones who are acting like you're not going to support John McCain in this year's election .. and who may even sit this one out. By now you should have heard about McCain's speech yesterday before CPAC. Here are just some of the things McCain said he would do:
** Continue to carry the fight to the Islamic radicals and goons wherever we can get to them.
88 Close the borders .. tight .. before any consideration is given as to what to do with the illegals who are already here.
** Not sign a bill with earmarks in it. ANY earmarks in it.
** Reduce the size of government.
** Not allow the expansion of entitlement programs
** Make the Bush tax cuts permanent
** Cut corporate tax rates.
** End AMT
** Develop free market solutions for health care, and respect for the right of free individuals to make choices for themselves.

I don't know, but that sounds like a fairly good conservative platform for me. Sure, there are things that I, as a Libertarian, would change.
For instance, not only would I block the expansion of entitlement programs, I would start a rollback.
Making the Bush tax cuts permanent would not be enough .. there's the FairTax.
And then there's my idea for a 10th Amendment Commission .. and I would like to see the systematic elimination of all government schools, beginning with transferring power to local governments and mandating voucher and school choice programs as a prerequisite for any school to get any federal government money at all.
But .. McCain is the guy. He's going to be the nominee unless something really bizarre happens. If you don't support his candidacy .. if you sit out the election .. just how much influence do you think you are going to have during his presidency? That is ...if your actions don't put Hideous Hillary in office.
Actually, Neal was right. The Republicans did a dreadfull job. They forgot all about our values and voted for larger government, had ethic lapses and let the minority party (Democrats) walk all over them.
In short, they forgot all about being Republicans. And we need the same angry Republicans that swept in power during the Clinton years...
*If we vote for him - the least qualified and most liberal of GOP candidates - then the GOP realizes it can force anyone down our throats and Conservatives will always be taken for granted. It appears as if the fix was in, perhaps including Soros money.
*During the last debate as well as previously his fading mental state was visible. He smiled and mumbled to himself and was unable to handle simple questions. With WOT and other problems facing this nation, we cannot afford a POTUS who might have a physical or mental breakdown.
*McCain's massive amnesty plan is a sellout of this country. He even voted against the Cornyn amendment. I cannot possibly vote for anyone who is this determined to destroy the US as to even vote against barring terrorists and violent gang members. His stand on immigration and the our borders shows he is incapable and/or unwilling to protect the interests of this country. How can I possibly vote for someone who hates this country this much?
*His numerous scandals, from adultery to Keating 5, speak for themselves. He is a scoundrel. He is no different from Hillary.
Don’t you mean bend forwards?
And he really did not back away from that, except I do think he will make securing the boarders a priority. McCain has no plans on doing anything to the 12 million already here. For those who have immigration as a litmus test issue, there may be no place to go. McCain will only be slightly better than Hillary.
Hillary will most likely give illegals rights to unionize and sue employers for back wages....which would actually discourage employers from hiring more illegals.
Though, as liberal as McCain is....he might do the same
So, are you going to sit on your ass on election day and get Hussein Obama - the pro-partial birth abortion supporter and licenses for illegal aliens or Hillary - the suporter of taxing your private retirement plan and socialing medicine elected?
Correct me if I am wrong, but did he not have to take that oath both in joining the armed forces AND on entering a federal elected office?
Mr. niteowl77
And Lucy promised that she would not pull the ball away from Charley Brown.
And dogs only suck eggs once.
And smokers and alcoholics quit every day.
When McCain treats Democrats with as much disdain and contempt as he treats his own party, then the words might mean something.
Satan can quote the Bible, he just doesn't believe it.
I can't believe we're really being stuck with your sinator this time around.
I’m with you, let’s just back off the anti-McCain rhetoric for a bit and watch what happens. Time heals all wounds, but as Mom used to add, “Time wounds all heels.” If McCain is the man for the job then he will put his time to good use and those of us who oppose him might reluctantly have to go along. Or maybe not.
Only time will tell. It’s a long time for McCain to contain his rebel, up-yours, in your eye, etc. personality traits. We’ll see....
The narcissistic influence of thinking you have Power.
Now, if I though McCain was clever (I don't) I'd imagine that maybe he was saving Hernandez for a "Sister Souljah" moment. He could announce, "I didn't know Hernandez supports reconquista! He's fired! Vote for me now!"
But he's not, and he won't.
He has not convinced me, at all. No matter what he says, he will have to prove himself, and I don’t think that he can do that. He’s not off to a very good start when he sends Charles Keating out to speak for him on Hannity and Colmes.
I resent McCain being foisted on us as a conservative, i.e. don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining! I resent that my vote on Tuesday is meaningless since for all intents and purposes the GOP nominee was determined on February 7. And I bitterly resent that my probable choice in November will be between an out-and-out socialist (be that Hillary Clinton or Obama)and the worst of the RINOs. In a nation of three-hundred million is that the best we can do?
If I Did It
I cannot in good faith, vote for a Eurosocialist like Hillary or Obama, or get them elected, and I fear for this country if either are elected.
Bottom line: until McCain renounces McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman and renounces his intentions to abrogate our Second Amendment rights and give amnesty to tens of millions of illegal invaders, and defend our nation's borders, he's nothing but Hillary with an 'R' by his name.
Who knew you couldn't trust what politicians say?
