The vehicle had been allowed to pass when soldiers saw the children and became less suspicious. Once the vehicle got through the checkpoint, the adults parked it and ran, detonating the car with the children inside.

I'm sure there is a very special place in HELL for anyone who would use children in this manner. Killing innocent children is bad enough; using them to kill others is especially egregious.

When I was a kid, in 1954 & 55, I lived in Morocco. Out in the country, it was common to see a man and a woman trudging along: the woman in front, bent over with an enormous bundle of twigs (to be turned into charcoal) on her back; the man behind, riding a donkey. I asked about this [The order of progress, not the man riding and the woman carrying the load. That was expected.], as I understood the custom was for the man to go in front with the woman following. That was certainly what I had seen in the cities.

I was told that had been the custom everywhere until World War II.
