“So let me get this straight. If you want $2.00 and I offer $1.00, you’ll not take it because you didn’t get everything you wanted?”

More like... I want $2.00, and my choices are to have $100 taken away from me, or $90 taken away from me.

Much better than giving my freedom to the losers.

Ever wonder why the people who say,”winning isn’t everything” are never the winners?

“Again, it’s politics. If you want to win, then you go with the guy who can win...if you would rather lose by standing firmly on principles, well, that’s another way to go. However, the object of the exercise is to win.”

Not according to Reagan.

"if you would rather lose by standing firmly on principles, well, that’s another way to go. However, the object of the exercise is to win."........... I'm sure our Founding Fathers would have loved that line ,lol!

Let them save some time and start blaming me now.
I am not voting for John McQueeg.

Agreed. There isn't a conservative candidate running this time. Conservatives don't have a dog in this race.

Who said “winning isn’t everything”? I have yet to see that line posted here on FR. Could you please provide a link? Thanks!

IMHO, I NEVER thought McCain would be in the race! It was only when McCain won in NH did things start to snowball for his corination as the GOP Presidential Nominiation.

Rush has always stood by his principles and I, for one, don’t blame him for the GOP collapse.

Rush told us what a SOB McCain.

Blame the GOP on it’s Winner Take All policy. When you look at the actual numbers (not Percentages) Romney was actually very close on popular votes.

He did not start railing on McCain until shortly before SC. Then he scrambled to endorse Fred, then Mitt. He should have been educating the masses about Hunter’s record for months.

Well...you've got no chance without support from the conservative base. Abandon us and we abandon you. Besides, I can't believe ANYONE would sell out their principles just in order to win. No wonder this country is in the shape it is in.

If you want to whore yourself out for a win, go right ahead. If you want to ensure the GOP is no longer grand, go ahead and compromise. Supporting McCain tells the RINO power brokers that we will compromise our principles for the win and sell out our conservative principles..and in the future they can send us anyone they want and we will get in line (just like the dems do).

I won't do it.

A RINO is better than a Leftist Radical.

George W. Bush was a bitter disappointment. But I'd vote for him again today if he ran against Al Gore or John Kerry.

McCain? I have absolutely no use for him.

Nevertheless, HIS folks showed up to vote. But this “conservative base” you speak of, where exactly were they on Tuesday? Out of town?

I know, I know, Hunter, Thompson and Tanc had already dropped. Well then, where was the “conservative base” before then, hmmm? I’m beginning to wonder if you can fit the “conservative base” into a phone booth any more.

I’m so glad Rush said all this. I’m tired of conservatives getting blamed for all the ills that have befallen the Republican party. We’re not the ones in Washington. These people who are now talking down to us are supposed to be representing our views—not the other way around!!! Instead, we’re yet again being belittled.

And to all of the do-gooder Freepers who have now started ridiculing those of us who won’t vote for McCain—it’s *OUR* vote, not yours, thank you.

“Nevertheless, HIS folks showed up to vote”

You mean independants, moderates and cross over democrats? FR is a CONSERVATIVE website, not a RINO one. This conservative went out on Tuesday and voted, however, to my dismay, they took Thompsons name off the ballot!!!! Therefore I cast my vote against mclame for Romney.

I will never pull my lever for a lib, which is why I will never vote mclame.

If Rush couldn’t move folks away from McCain, why do you think he could have moved them to Hunter?

How many months should Rush have been pounding on people’s heads who should have known better in the first place?

If folks had been listening to Rush for more than a month, they should have known that McCain wasn’t acceptable.

IMHO, the combined “conservative base” and the “liberal base” are numerically inferior to those occupying the middle ground.

There are sure a lot of hard heads that just cannot understand that message. I do not need McCain and Have no obligation to vote for him end of story. Going to find a bumper sticker with that statement on as soon as possible.
