You heard it here first from Rush Limbaugh: When John McCain is defeated in November, the Republican Party's RINO establishment is set to blame the conservative base for the inevitable debacle.

You can already see evidence of it on the forum. Truly pathetic...

The Washington Republican establishment elite harbor a deep hatred for social conservatives.

Reagan ran on and helped to build the platform of Fiscal conservatism, national security conservatism and social conservatism - the three legged stool.

Rino’s like McCain come in the tradition of Ford and Dole - run as much as possible on fiscal and national security conservatism, while pretty much paying lip service to and throwing a few bones every now and then to social conservatives.

Yeah, but you could see this all coming if you read FR on election night 2004. The Ostrich Brigade didn't see it coming when it was right in front of them.

McCain is no conservative. I’ll vote in the March primary if there’s a conservative name on the ballot. I’ll not vote in November if there isn’t. Simply no reason to. Let the Good Ole Pinks think what they want.

Well, I think there's been a bit of a change from the Reagan model, as the legs were all grounded on the Constitution and freedom and individual rights...some things that many so-called conservatives (from all legs) shun these days.

I think what Rush is saying is true - the GOP leadership just embraced too many facets of “liberal” beliefs - tolerance, diversity, accomodation - that the Democrat Party itself never did. Now you’re hearing the sound of a big tent collapsing.

You put up the guy who has the best chance of getting elected. Period. End of story. It’s politics, not Sunday School.

He’s right, but I wish he had said this months ago and kept pounding on it. I do blame him, as a contributing factor, at least, because he really stayed away from intra-GOP issues and spent most of his time talking about Hillary. I actually even stopped listening to him regularly a couple of months ago, because all he ever did was play recordings of Hillary’s latest mind-boggling speech and foam at the mouth about them.

Who cares about Hillary? I really wish Rush had put all that energy into helping conservatives define their priorities, particularly in terms of the GOP candidate, and left Hillary to shriek away on her own.

Maybe he avoided this because he didn’t want it to look as though he was endorsing anybody in particular, but a few nudges in the right direction might have helped. Now we’re stuck with an unelectable candidate, whom most of us probably don’t want elected anyway (unless he pulls a Dean Scream moment, and everything changes overnight...).

So busy “reaching out to the other side of the aisle,” they forgot to reach out to the people who got them elected: the conservative base.

Actually, I've seen it play out among the RINO supporters here. They screech that we conservatives are always to blame when their liberal with an 'R' by his name fails. They never appreciate that it is their fault for running Democrats with an 'R' by their name that causes the failure in the first place. No...in their eyes, we conservatives are the bad guys because we won't drink their RINO Kool-Aid.

Well, that's too bad. The era of our holding our noses and putting up with these liberal RINOs is drawing to a close. It's now time that the RINOs were made to hold their noses and vote for conservatives for a change!

Let them save some time and start blaming me now.

I am not voting for John McQueeg.

And to hell with the GOP. Hillary is the biggest threat to the Republic since the Civil War, and the GOP puppet masters run McAmnesty?

How serious do you think they really are?

Indeed. The only time McCain ever reached out to the conservative base was to slap us in the face. Enough of that. The time has come to sweep those liberals clean out of the party.
