“THIS IS ALL SET UP TO MAKE THE PEOPLE THINK THAT CONSERVATIVES ARE BEHIND HIM...”

Yep. And now, Michael Steele is on Fix News spinning like mad for him.

I thought McCain blew it. Amnesty is not off the table, he said nothing about rethinking his stance on global warming. His stance on these issues will take us into a depression. If McCain wins, there had better be enough conservatives in the house and senate to kill off amnesty and this global warming hysteria.

“Now he just said that he would nominate Justices like Roberts and Alito.”

Unless Republicans win back the Senate (highly doubtful), he’ll nominate whoever Frank Leahy and Ted Kennedy approve of in advance.

The Dems. aren’t stupid enough to allow the opposite of Ruth Bader Ginsburg through the Senate when they are in the majority.

If McCain was smart, he would go back to the Senate and get in a big battle with the Dems by pushing a cap on spending like the 1995 "Pay as you go rules" or for a fully funded border fence bill. Do something to show Conservatives he really means what he is saying.

Right now Conservatives mistrust McCain cause they figure he is more Democrat then Conservative. He could do a lot to assuage that worry by picking some serious fights in the Senate while Hillary/Obama are still slugging it out.

"Speech over. McCain?s getting a rousing standing ovation. I think he?s turned the tide. On to November and victory!"

One Speech vs. McCain - Feingold, McCain - Kennedy, McCain - Lieberman, etc. I hope Conservatives are not that easy. He has a lot of work ahead of him.

[I’m probably the only one on this thread that thinks his speech is Reaganesque]

I am wary of McKane and have been so since Lincoln Thrift. He has done much to deserve the ire of the voters. But most on this board seem to think there are viable alternatives.

My God people, we have a pair of dems running that are, at best, slightly to the right of Lenin. There is no other candidate available to us and to not vote as an alternative is to promote the libs.

Sure it would be nice to take a stand, but I am convinced that the day hill or Obama take the oath, 2 or 3 Justices will announce their resignations and either of them would nominate replacements that make Ginsburg look like Rehnquist!

Ponder that folks and do what you feel necessary but I look beyond the possibilities and see the probabilities.

I’m at CPAC right now and can assure you that the majority of those in that room are not bused-in McCain supporters but folks who waited quite some time in security lines to watch this

Your first hand account is in contradiction to Freeper trueblackman's first hand account

see: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1966565/posts

"I arrived at CPAC this morning around 10:30, the first thing I noticed was several buses from out of town with young McCain supporters taking talking points from old persons.

As I milled around for nearly 2 hours, even did a segement with G.Gordon Liddy. McCain's supports roved the floor after Vice President Cheney's Speech, trying to sale McCain as "A true Conservative and a vote against McCain means a lost of appointments to the federal bench and a chance to work with open minded Democrats!" several operatives tried a number of times to sale me on this point and that McCain is the candidate that can bring all of us together, right!!!

I also noticed that several RLC and Republican groups also had tables at CPAC and were also trying to sale McCain as well.

With all this being said, I can assure you that when the media is trying to sale you on MCCain getting a warm welcome at CPAC, that the room will be filled with his 1,000-2,000 supporters he had bussed or driven in and why do you think he waited to 3pm to give his so-called speech?"

If you collect all the Countryclubbers and RINOs together in one spot, they'd still be less than 5% of the voters Republicans need in the general election.

Without the Evangelical, Catholic and Conservative base of the party, McCain simply doesn't have a chance.

The are going to keep McCain up on high until he assures the nomination....then he is in big trouble.

The left admitted yesterday their bias against Romney and support for McCain or Huckabee, had he surged.

They certainly succeeded

“very nice speech”

I missed the part where he wanted a CO2 tax on companies

to the tune of trillions of dollars of possible economic

damage to the economy.

A “conservative” that believes in man made global warming

is a liberal.
