The Dewey Loman American Legion Post 109 is the place to be tonight for Maryland Republicans.
That’s where presidential candidate Sen. John McCain and ex-presidential candidate Mitt Romney are both scheduled to speak this evening in Halethorpe Maryland.
Romney was previously scheduled to attend the event, while McCain announced his surprise appearance this morning.
And just minutes ago, McCain’s campaign put out word that the Arizona senator would be picking up “a major endorsement” at this evening’s Baltimore County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner.
Minutes later, former Massachusetts Gov. Romney announced he would be ending his bid for the White House.
One source with knowledge of tonight’s event tells PolitickerMD.com that former Gov. Bob Ehrlich will not be the one introducing McCain before the presidential candidate delivers brief remarks; however, Ehrlich aides say he will be announcing his endorsement this evening.
But does an Ehrlich endorsement qualify for a national teaser endorsement at this stage of McCain's campaign? We think not.
There are implications that Romney, who has been locked in a bitter fight with McCain, would make the quick endorsement with the hope of unifying their party.
According to an advance text of his speech to the 2008 CPAC conference obtained by Time’s Mark Halperin, Romney said, “I disagree with Senator McCain on a number of issues, as you know.”
“But I agree with him on doing whatever it takes to be successful in Iraq, on finding and executing Osama bin Laden, and on eliminating Al Qaeda and terror. If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win.”
Mitt wants VP. McNutCase wants to kick Huck out of bed after he serviced McNutCase with a win, so dealing with Mitt was the only way to do that. Someone below mention “one big circle jerk!” Yep, that’s a fact. I WILL NEVER VOTE MCNUTCASE!!!! EVER!!!! Give it to the Dims.

He won’t win. His poor health will become issue # 1 toot sweet with the media. It’s our only hope though if it happens soon..
I said to my husband as the news unfolded, I can’t believe we’re being forced to vote for John McCain. I’m actually thinking of writing in my husband’s name in November. Can you imagine the family story? “Mom/Grandma/Great-Grandma was SO disgusted with the Republican choice in 2008 that she actually voted for Dad/Grandpa/Great-Grandpa in the presidential election.” I mean, really, how many people can actually say they got a vote for president? Maybe I should have them copy it at the polling place so we have one for posterity.
If it is true, I will consider it so. And if it is true, I will make my apology in advance to those I sparred with in defense of Romney.

I do not understand your reasoning. How can electing a Democratic President with a super majority Senate help preserve the country. This is insanity.
Secondly, if you got the conservative candidate you want they would lose 45 states. The country is NOT conservative.

It don’t matter what Mitt does with them. Huck will pass Mitt in delegates next week and McCain can still win outright without help from anyone.

Suspension is not dropping out and not a sell-out. A sell-out would mean that Mitt did this for a reason other than what he stated...such as becoming McCain's VP.
BTW, I became a Romney supporter after Fred dropped out. Since I'm from Michigan my Fred vote ACTUALLY COUNTED.

When McCain said to calm down, I thought he was talking his opponents. HE WAS TALKING TO YOU. Don't you know that it is way too early to play the traitor card. It may be the only way he can reach across the party and get some conservative votes. But let the INSANE one do it himself in his own time. McCain's campaign is really in serious trouble if his supporters like you are so insecure that you are playing the traitor card before he even gets the nomination.

Well, Romney has a point doesn't he? Elections are an either-or proposition. You have to pick one of the two. That's the system we have. McCain has pretty much threatened to declare war on Iran on Inauguration Day, so McCain will knock their heads around more than Hillabitch or Obamanation. We can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
I think his withdrawal is tantamount to an endorsement, if only a sidehanded one.
I am sorry he didn’t win. I hope he sticks around the body politic. He is a good man.
