If the unfortunate possibility of a McCain nomination comes to pass, I will not work for his election to the presidency, nor will I defend him in ad hoc conversations. He is wholly unworthy for that high office, and it is intolerable for my conscience to abide supporting him.
I will face two options once in the voting booth: 1) cast my ballot for a third party candidate, or 2) simply not vote in the presidential election.
I am curious who among you share my sentiments.
Cut and Run, that is our option, act like Anti War nut jobs, but do not claim to support the Troops.
Imagine yourself a service-member at a forwarding operating base in Iraq, knowing that if you get captured and our guys have those detained that they can get information out of that might save you from being truly tortured....to death, and under McCain, they can’t use interrogation techniques as mild as water-boarding to prevent it. He is not looking out for our troops. He carefully calculated his position to take advantage of the dual positions of being tough on the war and soft on the terrorists. He was looking out for himself only like the mealy-mouthed politician he is.
This, I believe, is the problem. What makes you feel good is not usually what is the right thing to do.
Let me be clear. McCain is about my last GOP choice for president, but short of an epic collapse on his part, this looks like a likely outcome.
I will NOT surrender our country to the CLintons. This is a long, black train we've seen rumbling down the tracks for years. It will NOT help our country - and our children's and grandchildren's country - if we stand in the middle of the track, mesmerized by the light and the sound of the wheels on the rails.
I’m not assuming it either way. I’m honestly surprised he’s lasted this long, outside of some literal Faustian bargain. I can’t bet the future of the country on his hypothetical longevity, though.
If Bill Clinton hadn’t have gotten in office, the GOP wouldn’t have taken Congress
They don't fight until there is a foot on their neck.
I caucased for Huckabee, not that it matters in Minnesota in particular my district where the leader refused to even say his name correctly (She also screwed up Ron Paul and Alan Keys names)..
IM sorry Huck is the only one left who has ameaningful support of life (although McCain has been solid outside of stem cells)
Hopefully this can be a learning year for the GOP they need a young well rounded conservative next cycles (unless by some fluke the Gop takes one home)...
How about a brokered convention with a Thompson / Pawlenty ticket ;) Or a Pawlenty / Watts ticket !
I’ll examine it later but if I actually put effort into finding articles about McCain my list would be ten times longer. All I did was grab a link here and there when they popped up on FR this last year.
Aye, time to get off the train. The train wreck coming is all too apparent. Stock up on bullets.
WHO WOULD YOU FEAR MOST IN YOUR HOME A WOLF YOU KNOW HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST, OR THE WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING?
A wolf in sheep’s clothing is not a wolf if you know that it is in sheep’s clothing. That is a bad analogy.
This is more along the lines of, would I rather be burned or castrated.
I would rather be burned any day of the week. Burns heal. The damage that Hillary will do to this country will not.
And if he does win, he will owe you nothing.
I will not vote for McCain.
I thought it would be more of a protest vote, with our votes going to a CONSERVATIVE Party candidate. True, they won't win, but neither will McCain.

Here endeth the exchange! Rant on! Keep calling those of us who don't see the Republic with your party eyes - traitor, as it obviously makes you feel quite superior.
Howard Dean thanks you for the support. The democrats can not do it without you or those like you.
Ooh rah! To hell with the Tories!
Instead of ImpBill, you should change your alias to ImpHill. That would suit you better.
ImpHill the Hillary lover. He loves Hillary more than his pride.
I like your point about the party and the republic.
In that same vein, I like to think of Martin Luther (Not KING) when he had to give defense for his writings and beliefs before the Holy Roman Emperor and was asked to recant his writings. I will paraphrase:
These are my beliefs. What have I said that is not correct? What I have taught and written, to recant them would cause me to go against what the church and the Bible teach. To force me to do so would make me go against my conscience. To go against conscience, is neither right or sane. If you can prove to me that I am wrong, then I will recant, but if not, then I can not and I will not recant. Here I stand. God help me.
He's right.
As much as I wish all those on this board will keep their resolution NOT to vote McCain, when the time comes they'll do it. McCain's counting on conservatives hating Hillary more than him.
Exactly. That is what I am talking about. Where do we start?
The time is now!
Go with McQueeg then. We won’t vote for the bastard.
I wholeheartedly share your sentiment. It is insane and depressing that McCain is doing as well as he is, only months after his amnesty bill failed. I will never vote for him, even if it means Clinton or Obama are elected. It’s almost like asking if I’d vote for Obama to make sure Clinton wouldn’t be elected-—of course not.
If McCain is the nominee, I may just take a permanent vacation from caring about politics and/or America. It was headed down the tubes, let it continue if that’s what the people want. Did I say people? I meant sheep.
