Why Are Many Conservatives Leaders Endorsing McCain? (Vanity)
2/5/2008 | Self

Posted on 02/05/2008 5:58:30 AM PST by Obadiah

Serious question. John McCain has a conservative rating of something like 88%. He is a "maverick" who genuinely seems more comfortable working with Democrats. John McCain has dissed conservatives on numerous occasions and authored such abhorent legistaion such as McCain/Feingold. He is for open borders (depending on the day you ask him).

Now, Sam Brownback, Tom Coburn, Phil Gramm, Jack Kemp, Ted Olson, Richard Land, and perhaps Nancy Reagan have either formally endorsed or have voiced support for John McCain? Why are these people endorsing McCain??

Seriously, I cannot grasp this. Why do I have this big disconnect? I do not want John McCain. Why is he being rammed down our throats?

Is it simply "his turn"? Is it because there is no alternative now? Why didn't more people jump on the Fred bandwagon? Do we really want Bob Dole 2.0?

The MSM have had a love afair with McCain as they do with RINOs like Chuck Hagel, Richard Lugar, or any other "Republican" willing to spit on other Republicans. McCain seriously considered switching Parties. McCain was seriously considered as John Kerry's running mate. What's going on?

No one endorsing John McCain is a real conservative.

Didn’t Phil Gramm endorse him. He’s a conservative. I think the older conservatives know him from the 80’s when he was “a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution.” Hopefully McCain is serious about spending. We know he’s serious about national defense. Conservatives need to join numbersusa and grassfire to be ready for an immigration fight if McCain declares our border is secure.

If Romney did the same thing in his circle of friends it would be a bunch of people you never heard of.

Not withstanding that-- I would say Romney's circle of friends are not plastered on the evening news all the time, nor do they make a living being politicians and pundents.

Despite the idea that Romney's friends are not splashed on the news or do not write commentaries during political events...I would venture to say many of them have actually created tons more jobs than all of McCain's men combined.

Oh my gosh! They have actually worked outside of government!

Politicians' carreers are based 90% around reputation. Businessmens' carreers are 20% reputation 80% skill at what they do.

These endorsements show you exactly where each of the candidates come from. McCain comes straight from the halls of government.

See the thread about the CIA having files proving McCain’s cooperation with the enemy while a POW

If you cared enough to research this yourself you would know John McCain admits he broke under torture. Almost all POWs admit to that after the kind and generous treatment provided at the Hanoi Hilton.

Got to remember that we are dealing with a man who up there in years, has a real bad temper, ( Captian Queeq ), and there is an attitude that he is “owed” the presidency.

McCain Hate?

I have pity for the old man. He is old, angry and nasty, and will lose in the general election. Our shared misfortune. McCain is history after he wins the primary.

Im looking past that now. We need to forget about the presidency, ITS OVER, and focus on congress, and blocking the Democrat agenda that will be coming from the whitehouse in 2009.

I think refusing to be released from the PIO camp early because his Dad was an Admiral was heroic. That said I will not vote for him is stance on illegal immigration is enough to disqualify him in my eyes.

"John McCain is the 2008 version of Gerald Ford and Bob Dole. "

Yep. "It's his turn." The Stupid Party is nothing if not consistent.

These government people get far more attention than what they deserve. They get it because they are IN the government... in the public eye. Then they use that to try and make themselves out to be gods.

In the private sector you have guys with 10 times the skill set, but also 10 times less public recognition for it.

I agree with you 100%. I was just trying to show my disdain for McCain.

McCain however at least meets the minimum requirements for a republican president.

Well, let's see...

McCain is over 35

he was born a US citizen, and

he is a registered Republican.

So, I guess you are right.

Whether he meets the minimum requirements for me and mine to vote for him is another matter entirely.

"Im looking past that now. We need to forget about the presidency, ITS OVER, and focus on congress, and blocking the Democrat agenda that will be coming from the whitehouse in 2009."

That sounds good, but the reality is that if McCain gets trounced in a landslide, the Democrats will gain a super majority of 60+ in the Senate, and a 2/3 majority in the House. Add the Supreme Court reveral with just one more liberal and likely two, and we are toast for another 40 or 50 years. This is why I cannot understand why sheeple would even remotely consider McCain.

Washington and Hollywood have a lot in common believe it or not. Both have a schmoozing network and both are trying to create stars.

"...Even Sen. McCain said he could end up doing only 4 years."

I don't wish anything bad to happen to him even if he doesn't wind up as president, but I worry about him even making four years.

those are not my leaders.....those are RINOS - Vaquero

No one endorsing John McCain is a real conservative. - devere

they aren’t conservative. that’s why. - spacejunkie

They are RINO’s looking for jobs! - seekthetruth

Anyone who thinks Coburn is a RINO or not conservative, doesn't have a clue.

Of course, y'all can prove me wrong simply by posting evidence of either.

"Under GWB the Republican party and its leaders and elected reps have hijacked the party away from the voters."

BS. The Republican party started sliding slowly to the left YEARS before President Bush even became governor.
