Hyperbole much.

The fact of the matter is this is a private enterprise and none of Specter’s damn business. The government should butt the hell out of sports, steroids in baseball, taping in football all are outside the legitimate purview of government.

And as for “everybody outside Massachusetts” BS. I’m outside Mass and don’t believe there is such a thing as “tarnished beyond repair”. The reality is there’s a small dedicated cadres of whiners bitchers and moaners that have kept this boring story alive well past it’s legitimate shelf life. If the NY Post and Gregg Easterbrook would grow up the story would be over already. Luckily Easterbrook only has two more columns on this season so he’ll be shutting up one way or the other. By the time next season starts even the dedicated whiners will have moved on. It’s a none story, and people need to walk away. The season is over, and it turns out they didn’t win it all.

You’re the only one slinging the word “hatred” around so much. We’re just glad someone who was caught cheating didn’t win a championship, as we should be. We’re also glad we were able to see an exciting football game, as we should be. All that aside, if my team isn’t in it, I usually cheer for the underdog in any game. You’re taking this way too personally.

I’d agree with that, as far as that poser’s actions are concerned. Frankly, whenever RINO/wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing Specter is involved, I cringe.

I think he’s just trying to get MORE publicity for himself. Not sure why in this case, but he sure is being a real pain lately with his nosiness in everything. Including trying to be “objective” by stabbing GOP in the back, McCain-like.

Please tell me where it is in the job description of a sitting US Senator to hold hearings on matters related to his favorite football team? Are you one of the liberal trolls around here who support government intereference in private enterprise?

So, your saying you and the others who have come out and stated how they HATE Bellichick, don’t really hate him? I’m making comments about how pathetic it is to hold such vitriol for someone that doesn’t have any impact on your life in anyway whatsoever. If that’s being too personal, so be it. Oh, just to make it clear, this all started with my reply to someone who HATES Bellichick. I’m not the one slinging that word around, just reflecting it back upon those using it.

There may have been some people who said that but, I’ve not seen it. I have seen it used by you several times.

I don’t hate the guy and I don’t know him personally. I only know how I’ve seen him act on the field and that he has been caught cheating. I think he acts like an a$$ hole on the field. I think he is a sore loser. I’m not alone in that assessment. I’m entitled to my opinion, as are others. We know he was caught cheating. I tend not to like so much people who cheat and who I think act like a$$ holes. Therefore, I take delight when they get a smack down, in this case losing the SB. It’s not like anyone wished physical harm to the guy. As you said, it’s just a game and there are more important things going on in the world.

You should read some of the hateful things I’ve read on these boards about Tony Dungy and all things Manning. Mostly from Patriot fans, I might add.

You can justify it any way you want, but either way, you are ignorant and dead wrong. Belichick was caught red-handed doing the illegal taping that he was specifically warned against doing by the commissioner of the league. Everybody else has not been caught. If and when others are caught, I hope they are punished even more severely and the fines and punishment increase until it is no longer worth the risk. But attempting to justify Belichick's cheating by saying that everybody does it, is mind-numbed response by an unenlightened homer attempting to blow smoke up the @$$e$ of anybody that will listen for the sake of being able to beat their own chests and revel in their team's victory. It's a game. Unfortunately, the money involved brings out the worst in participants and the fans as well. No where is that more apparent than in Boston.

The NFL was on to Belichick in 2006 but said they could not catch him and they simply bided their time and waited for him to set up his camera guy again. And now this Walsh fellow is implying that he has evidence dating back even further that will embarrass both the Patriots AND the NFL. Leads me to believe that the game against the Jets and Mangini, who had first-hand knowledge of the cheating, forced Roger Goodell's hand. If Matt Walsh fears retribution by the NFL and the Patriots for being a whistleblower than I would welcome a investigation by Specter, or whoever has the power to grant immunity from lawsuits, charges or prosecution, provided, of course, that Matt Walsh has the hard facts, tapes, etc. that he has implied to ESPN. If he does not possess hard facts than he needs to go away. Specter is correct in the fact that a more thorough investigation is justified because, IMHO, exactly none of Roger Goodell's statements regarding the evidence and the punishments have made a lick of sense.

Thanks for playing though, try again next year.

Yeah, no level of hatred in that statement whatsoever/sarc. So, what evidence do you profer up that supports your "belief" about this man? I've been watching this team as much as I possibly can for quite a few years (being that I'm in Cali and don't get every game during the season) and I've not witnesses a single incident that this man has done that is different from any other coach in the NFL as far as his on-field behavior. Sore loser? What evidence do you use for that claim? He congratulated the play of every team that the Pat's have lost to over his tenure in front of the camera. He's not made any excuses about any loss, including this one. So, I don't understand where you come up with those claims. And, just so bore home my earlier point, the one video was never utilized, and each game won this season was done so without such advantage. Not one game in the 2007 season can anyone make a claim that they cheated with evidence of such claim. Not one.

Ah, projectng. You’ve said Manning is a moron and had no class. Where’s your proof? Not your “belief” about this man. I want to see proof. Guess that makes you a hater.

BTW, it’s hard to turn on a sports show or read a sports blog without a very high majority of people saying Belichick leaving the field before the game was over yesterday and not returning made him look like a sore loser. But, I don’t need their opinion as proof as I watched it live in HD on the big screen. We all laughed our butts off. None of us were surprised much by it.

I did say Manning has no class, but I base that on his behavior off the field in his commercials, not on his ability on the field. He is a very good quarterback. That was aimed at Payton by the way, not Eli. I’ve never made any negative comment about Eli.

I watched the end of the game yesterday, and saw Bellichick return to the sidelines for the last snap of the last second on the clock. So, whatever you saw (or claim you saw based on what others may have told you) is fantasy. Your hatred for the man is definitely showing now. You took enjoyment in laughing at the team? Wow, how pathetic is that?

I don’t think that Bill Clinton has any class, or his wife for that matter. But, does that mean I hate them? What a stretch.

Yes, it’s quite pathetic the way some people have jumped on the Giants bandwagon with the only intent of being against another team the Patriots.

FTFY.

Lol. Yeah, so what's your point? As a Packer fan I cheered for the Colts last year because I don't like the Bears (for obvious reasons.) In other words, I jumped on the Colts bandwagon with the intent of "being against" the Bears or for the Bears to lose.

I have far more respect for the Giants end-of-season winning streak, their organization, players, coaches and fans; that's why I cheered for them or you could say I wanted the Patriots to lose.

Either way I say it I wanted the Giants to win--and they did.

Oh, you want to start talking about Belichick's behavior off the field? Really? Wow, I was going to give the guy a pass on that since we were talking about football here. But, if you want to open up a whole other can a worms, there is quite a bit of material there also.

Yeah, we all laughed, cheered, drank beers and were pretty much ecstatic for the Giants, especially Eli since he has taken so much crap. We didn't laugh at your team. We laughed at your coach's lousy behavior. Try to keep up. Maybe re-read the post before responding.

Again, projection. You are the one who said I was a hater because I think Belichick acts like an a-hole and sore loser. I never used the word hate, yet you continue to do so.

I'm done. Sports Center is on. :)

They needed to pull it. It was false advertising. They finished 18-1, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. But don’t tell soldierdad or whatever his name was. It will further ruin his day.

There will be no link. He did not return for the last second. In fairness, there was some confusion and it did not matter since it was just a kneel down. There’s plenty of other legitimate stuff to criticize Bellichick. He wasn’t exactly gracious in defeat.

I do get an enormous kick out of Patriots’ fans. They got caught red hand violating the rules and somehow have convinced themselves that everybody else is the bad guy. Kinda like Clinton. The spygate story has legs, and it was always strange why the NFL destroyed the tapes. I hope it is nothing more than a bad decision.

That said, what a terrific football game!

Would you mind pointing to any commercial in particular where he displays this lack of class you mention? I can't say I've seen any where he displays this type of behaviour and I'm in the New York market.

"He did not return for the last second." Bull Puckey. 1 second could be a win/lose situation in nascar. But after congratulating the other coach a knee is nothing in football.

If there is anything to critize in that game is, after a circus catch, how did Plexico get to be so wide open? Wonder how that munchkin defender feels today. I don't want to know who called that defense.

Um, er, ok. If you read the rest of the post, we are in violent agreement. Not a big deal. ALso in violent agreemnent that there is plenty of other legitimate stuff to criticize NE’s coaching staff. You point out a good one. Did we ever get an explanation of why NE did not try a field goal on the 30 vice going for a 4th and 13?

When coaches make that decision it reflects their confidence (or lack of) in the kicker.
