This is so sad. Prayers for the family, and the students and administration of the school.

Meanwhile, a thread last night detailed a school's (failed) attempt to suspend a student for having a pen with "Glock" written on it.

Because schools are really, really serious about having zero tolerance for violence. Fah!

To lose a child is a terrible thing. But to lose the child in these circumstances, and then to have to live with it. There are no words.

A 7-year-old boy who was found injured, hanging from a hook in a bathroom at NYOS charter school, died

Seven years old. Hung up like meat.

Very tragic. Probably a prank by older students who had no idea what could happen.

Police said the boy was found hanging by his shirt on a hook in the gym locker room bathroom with his pants down and underwear on.

Bullies...

Frankly I would be surprised if this is anything more than just a silly prank gone bad, really bad. As bad as a prank can go. I’m sure kids in that school have seen the same treatment given a kid on TV and the laugh track made it seem hilarious. On its face it’s pretty funny, but at those kids’ age all sorts of slapstick stuff if funny, if only to them.

My Mom used to say “Monkey see, monkey do!” She meant it not as an insult, though it can double quite well for that, but as a learning moment for us kids.

I have no children at home and my grandchildren are all too old to watch kid’s tv, but I do know that many of the programs have the kids doing things that are potentially dangerous. Kids mimic what they see, in language, clothes and behavior. And sadly most kids watch tv without their parents, so there is no one to point out the dangers of things they might see.

The whole thing is sad beyond words, except for those in the prayers that I offer for everyone involved. A lot of lives have been changed forever.

And still there are those who say bullying and being bullied is a normal part of childhood and growing up.

I have been researching sociopathy/psychopathy (synonyms) and have been learning of the shocking prevalence of this "utter lack of conscience and empathy/emotion" in children of very early ages.

The evidence keeps growing that we are seeing an increasing number of "born psychopaths."

I highly recommend two books: "The Sociopath Next Door," by Martha Stout , PhD, and "Without Conscience," by Robert Hare, PhD. Both books are in paperback and available widely online and at Borders or Barnes and Noble.

I like the way they put “charter school” up there. I don’t remember the last time I saw the word “public school” like that.

“Shooting massacre at Public High School”.

Bullies? An accident? Was anyone else involved?

Time will tell.

But for now, I offer up a prayer to the family.

In Jesus Name.

Oh, man. :*(
I was praying for the little guy to recover completely.

Prayers for his family and friends, and may the bully who did this be caught before another child dies! :*(

Didn’t something similar to this happen to a child last year?
