“You are a smitten fool. She lived with a liberal.”

So. Reagan lived with a liberal.

I would agree with that.

I do get quite uncomfortable with the idea that conservatives can do whatever the hell they like just because they are in a liberal state though. How can we expect those states to move toward the right, if our side is going to implement the liberal’s pipe dreams for them?

And after all, that’s exactly the dilema we face if either of these men become president.

Romney is acceptable.

Romney is every bit as bad as McCain. One has to be ignorant of his record and history of lying and flip-flopping to claim otherwise.

The American Conservative Union gives McCain a lifetime score of 83--lowest of the Republican candidates they listed (Fred Thompson was not on the list, or the ones who never served in Congress). On the other side, Edwards had a 10, Hillary had a 9, and Obama an 8. That's quite a difference.

McCain has made a career of poking conservatives in the eye, but the idea that he's worse than Hillary or Obama is ludicrous. The worst he would do with a Supreme Court justice would be someone in the Sandra Day O'Connor mold--someone wishy-washy. Hillary or Obama would pick militant leftists and militant pro-abortionists only.

If you didn’t see this live on Hannity & Colmes last night, click on the youtube link in the original post to see the clip. It was pretty wild, and reminiscent of yesterday’s conversation.

I think that's pretty close to what he is saying; could be empty rhetoric or a threat.

Seems that Ann’s lack of protein is affecting her brain.

Maybe the message isn't meant for us, so much, as them.

if you really are Republican who will hand us a Clinton presidency, and then whine about it for eight years

The last time a Clinton was in the White House, Republicans gained 500 seats nationwide, took back Congress for the first time in 40 years, a balanced budget was achieved, the economy was booming and welfare reform became reality.

That is a whole lot better than a liberal Republican pushing through liberal legislation while the Republicans become a shrinking minority in Congress.

The lesser-of-two-liberal strategy is brain-dead and has failed every time it has been tried.

Valid point. My hope with Romney is, if we stand behind him, it will make him stronger. He's speaking our language (for the most part), and unless he wants to be a one-termer, he's going to have to follow through.

McCain is making a concerted effort to win this without us (the photo-op in Cali yesterday was definitive proof of that). He wants to marginalize the base, kill conservatism as a viable political philosophy and usher in an age of "post-partisnaship" (a euphemism for essentially a one-party system). Where Romney is absolutely questionable, McCain is downright hostile.

Bottom line: this election sucks rocks.

Romney is every bit as bad as McCain.

He could be. But until he co-authors the most brazen assault on the First Amendment in 200 years, he can only aspire to McCain's level of treachery.

Romney doesn't have his own "maverick" wing of the party. McCain does. And it must be smashed.

It does and I agree with your comments completely. I cannot vote for Romney, but I will urge him to take certain actions, voice support when he does good things and trash him exensively when he does bad things.

I don’t take kindly to people destroying the image of conservatism and no matter what he does, he’ll be addressed from the left as being a conservative.

You take care.

now that I know it bothers you so much I’ll post it on other threads. Most people see that the point is they are not Americans - unlike you insisting to turn it (and me) into something else. I take that personally. Do not continue to communicate with me.

“No if Duncan Hunter had been the man, he would have had more support.”

No, if he was just selectively federalist and in a supporting role in Hunt for Red October, he would have had more support.

McCain and Romney are BOTH worse than having Hillary in the White House.

Wow, I sure can't say that. I didn't see any much difference between Hillary and Rudy, but there are some definite differences between McCain or Romney and Hillary. (True, they aren't as conservative as Hunter, but they are far better than Hillary, IMNSHO.)

I don’t think that is a good idea. If I see you do it I will object again.

Hannity and Colmes can’t restrain themselves from frequently interrupting her, can they?
Why did they even invite her?

She’s got a great point to make and really serious arguments. I think she did qualify her statement (in the middle of being interrepted for the 12th time), that “between Hillary and McCain” she would vote or possibly campaign for Hillary. However, I think she’ll find that there will be a third-party candidate that she woud rather vote for and endorse.

Ron Paul would be the only candidate with the gall and the following to attempt a conservative third-party run. (Although I don’t know if he can do that after running in the Republican Primary). All other “Republicans” would probably just fall in line.
