My friends, I have to admit that I've been in a bit of a quandary since the Real Conservatives ® Thompson and Hunter dropped out of the race leaving us to to place our bets on one the four headless horsemen. But after having a day or three to sort it all out, I'm beginning to see a ray of hope.
Number one, my worst fear that the pro-abortion, pro-gay, anti-gun social liberal Rudy Giuliani might be nominated, and thereby bring an abrupt and unholy end to the pro-life conservative movement within the GOP has been allayed. His evil culture of death platform has been soundly rejected by the Republican voters. Thank God! If nothing else is gained, that alone is a huge victory for us!
And that leaves us with the unwelcome slippery task of having to determine and select the least evil of the three remaining RINOs. But wait! When choosing between evils, why not choose the good?
McCain is insane and there are many good reasons not to choose him, but I'll list just five: McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, the Keating 5, and the Gang of 14. No thanks. McCain is out!
Romney ran on a pro-abortion platform, is pro gay rights, is prone to BIG government solutions, promises anything to anyone for a vote, and flip-flops on important issues. Can't trust him.
Now Governor Huckabee. Could this be the good vs evil? He's a Baptist minister. A genuine 100% pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, Southron Christian social conservative!
And that would be my reason no. 1 to support Huckabee. He has the trust and backing of the Christian evangelicals and the support of the Bible Belt. You cannot win the presidency without the South, and I believe the pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-America Mike Huckabee is the most likely of the three GOP hopefuls to carry the South. And that's a pretty darn good reason!
My number two reason is that he is NOT McCain (and that's a pretty darn good reason too).
Number three (and this will be a tough one for a lot of my FReeper Friends) is that he is NOT Romney.
Numbers four and five are he's NOT Hillary and NOT Obama. Oohrah!
Number six, he plays a mean bass and he's a traditional favorite at Free Republic's infamous quadrennial Inaugural Balls in Washington, DC. Perhaps we could persuade President Huckabee to drop by our ball and perform his rocking rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama!" Now, wouldn't that be a hoot!
Number seven, if we can keep Huckabee in the race all the way through, thus preventing McCain or Romney from gaining enough delegates to win the nomination, then maybe, just maybe a deadlocked convention might seek out another candidate. One who can re-unite the Reagan Coalition, save the GOP, and put us back on the conservative track. Of course, my personal favorite to be that man would be FRed Thompson.
Woo hoo!!
Let it ring out through grassroots America and on to the convention! Support life! Support the GOP! Support Huckabee! And re-draft FRed Thompson!!

While governor, Huckabee gained favor with Hispanic leaders by denouncing a high-profile federal immigration raid and suggesting some anti-illegal immigration measures were driven by racism. He advocated making children of illegal immigrants eligible for college scholarships.The same year Huckabee backed the scholarship provision, he criticized the federal government for a raid on an Arkadelphia poultry plant.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents arrested 119 illegal workers in the raid at a Petit Jean poultry plant, sending 107 out of the country either voluntarily or through deportation.
Huckabee also opposed a GOP lawmaker's efforts in 2005 to require proof of legal status when applying for state services that aren't federally mandated and proof of citizenship when registering to vote. Huckabee derided the bill as un-American and un-Christian, saying the sponsor -- former state Sen. Jim Holt -- drank a different "Jesus juice."

Fred Thompson needs to make sure he is registered as a candidate for president in every state.
That one act would give true conservatives a write-in candidate, and it may come down to that by November.
I can’t disagree there.
However, I have reservations about the FairTax, and considering his record in Arkansas, I’m skeptical of Huckabee’s support for it anyway.
Say I do believe him...he couldn’t pass it anyway.

Huck has the the foreign policy acumen of Jimmy Carter, the spiritual sincerity of Bill Clinton, and the personal persuasiveness of Richard Nixon.

I think the point is that for some diehard conservatives, of which I consider myself one, there is no choice at all now that we’re down to Mitt and John. What have we got to lose by voting Huckabee and forcing some form of shake-up?
I plan on writing in as it is.
If this doesn’t work, I can still write in.
I realize Romney supporters aren’t going to go for this, but I sure will.
We may not know whom we will back, but we know it is either the x42 bwitch, or Obama.
x42 has enough of a machine behind it, feeding every dirty little secret, and it has the nerve and that dastardly female way of cutting a man's 8@!!$ off, and smile doin' it.
Whomever we have go against that had better be pretty good with facts and vocals.

I remember his debut at the democrat convention, and I tell you ... he made me sit up and take note.I remember thinking, "This is a democrat? ... We'd better get someone against him, but quick ! "
Again, whomever 'debates' Obama had better have the language of our founders, and be well versed in articulating those principles.
In all honesty, I don't think any of the republicans present and past, had the language and fire to go against these two.
We've seen watery repuplican 'debates' and better staged democrat 'debates' ...
We haven't seen a head to head dem/repub. contest yet.
I'm not in a super Tuesday state, and I'm sure glad of that ... because I probably wouldn't be able to make a decision until I was in the booth.
Anybody can answer some questions. Heck I’m pro-life but I could probably withstand a NARAL question and answer session and come out having them convinced I’m pro-abortion.
Your position assumes that Huck is keeping votes from Romney- A flawed perspective, to say the least. Look at Georgia, which Huck will win. Romney is in the basement there. If anything, Huck is keeping votes from McCain (though I doubt that too).

Is a vote for Huckabee a vote for McCain? It depends on which state you’re in.
Several big states, including California and New York, have winner-take-all primaries (at least on the Republican side). In those states, where Huckabee clearly won’t win, the only issue is whether the delegation will be entirely McCain delegates or entirely Romney delegates. If you want to stop McCain, hold your nose and vote for Romney.
A few states, such as Colorado and Tennessee, award delegates proportionally. Huckabee might pick up some delegates without winning the state.
Keyes.
A) He’s still in the race.
B) He’s the only conservative left in the race.
C) Unlike Mike Huckabee, he knows foreign policy, national defense, and will restore our national sovereignty.

Strongly disagree here. There’s no way I’m supporting Huckster.
A brokered convention would be brokered by the party establishment. They’d pick McCain... and a lot of people who would have held their noses and vote for him if they felt that he’d gotten the nomination fair and square by winning the primaries will stay home.
My husband and I will be voting for Romney on Tuesday.
