Reagan Library Republican Presidential Debate: January 30, 2008
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls will face off Wednesday night without a familiar face as ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out and endorse front-runner Sen. John McCain.
The remaining candidates will take the stage in a debate -- sponsored by CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Politico -- beginning at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, follows McCain's Tuesday night win in the Florida primary.
McCain topped former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 36 percent to 31 percent in the hotly contested race.
Giuliani placed third with 15 percent of the vote, followed closely by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 14 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was fifth with 3 percent.
Giuliani is expected to end his White House bid and endorse McCain at a campaign event in California later Wednesday, Republican Party sources said.
Minus Giuliani, the debate will be a four-candidate affair -- McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Paul -- with CNN's Anderson Cooper moderating.

>But not about withdrawing. It was as clear as as a bell. Even the liberals know that McCain was lying. He was like a little boy caught lying tonight, but was too arrogant to admit it. Pitiful.

Romney Supports Private Timetable in Iraq
When asked by ABC News’ Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America” if he believes there should be a timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq, Romney replied, “Well, there’s no question that the president and Prime Minister al Maliki have to have a series of timetables and milestones that they speak about, but those shouldn’t be for public pronouncement.”

Mitt is too nice.
He should have come prepared with a retort to McCains “Time tables crap”.
Like “If you insist on being disingenuous and making a fool of yourself, then do persist John. Im enjoying it”
One line .... his staff needs to start doing their job.

Fred Thompson will endorse John McCain.
When, and when did he say it?
Hold it, I thought Fred was a stalking horse for Myth, especially with the fredheads for Myth group posting to this site

He’s one guy that even if he was supporting your policy, you’d almost like to see someone deck him.

I am going with Romney because he took McCain head on and came out of it a true winner. What gets me is that FL voted for McCain and yet he looked out of it tonight.

Darn couldn't find this thread but perhaps it's just as well as putting into print what I was shouting during McShame's performance tonight would have gotten me banned. That egotistical man SHOULD NOT be permitted to hold his Senate seat, let alone become Commander in Chief. I am so sick of hearing the "RR foot soldier" BS and his litany of all those who endorse him. What a small, arrogant scary man who, I hear, will now get the endorsement of Arnold tomorrow as well as some Southern Governors. God help us!
I try to mute David Gergan when he speaks but he just made an excellent point about the justices McShame boasts he would appoint -- Roberts and Alito. However these same judges would reject McCain-Feingold so it's doubtful he thought that through.

"I registered as a Republican so long ago that I have no idea how to 'unregister'."Go to your DMV and tell them you want to change your party affilliation. Takes about five minutes.

Romney says he regrets not serving in military. Should have kept his mouth shut on that one.Agreed -- probably more than a few are looking to see if he registered for the draft or what else they can turn up.

I agree...I’ve thought for some long time he’s really tightly wired..and if anyone said something that hit him the wrong way, he’d be apt to explode....I can’t believe he’s gotten to where he is in the primaries.....
He’s sure not anyone I’d want sitting next to “the button”....scary thought.
