It Boils Down To California On Super Tuesday (Stopping McCain)
1/30/08 | Self

Posted on 01/30/2008 5:05:17 AM PST by Nextrush

I'm angry about how things are going, I won't mince my words.

To watch the Establishment shove McCain into us disgusts me.

Lets look at how to win next Tuesday with tactical voting for Romney in key states with Huck being the only option down South.

For starters, Romney is a winner in Massachusetts. He's ahead 20 points in last week's polling, at least. I expect a win for Mitt in Utah, plus polling shows a big Romney lead in Colorado for the caucuses there next Tuesday.

Romney has three states in his bag.

Now he has to get some others. I hope Illinois is one of them, plus Missouri. Missouri is 58 WINNER TAKE ALL DELEGATES.

I think the South is a lost cause with Huck in there now getting organized pro-life support. The state affiliates of National Right To Life want pro-life voters parked with Huck next Tuesday for whatever reason.

That will firmly prevent any Romney chance in those states which either Huckabee or McCain will win.

Down south West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma, its a vote for Huckabee to beat McCain in those states.

I expect McCain to win some of them unfortunately.

Now out west Montana looks like a state for Romney to try for.

In the East McCain will sweep New York (101 WINNER TAKE ALL DELEGATES), New Jersey and I'm certain of Connecticut.

Delaware is also a McCain win, along with Arizona, although Mitt will get a substantial vote there from his fellow Mormons.

Alaska is a wild card. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ron Paul do well there. Maybe the vote will mix there to a Huck win.

Minnesota is voting as well and I don't know what to expect there. Maybe Mitt could do something there or in North Dakota. But I suspect McCain wins in both.

That brings us to the big prize. California. 173 delegates.

This is the one state that would give Mitt any bragging rights next Tuesday and so he must win there.

It will take an all out conservative effort with amnesty being a key issue.

Take the gloves off and pound McCain. Hold him to Kennedy-McCain, McCain-Kennedy, etc.

Is Tom McClintock in on Mitt's side?

Right now Ahnold is uncommitted. He may be held back to endorse McCain at the last minute for what its worth.

California is the key to Romney's survival and viability.

If he loses there McCain will have it for sure.

Excellent graphic.

I’d laugh if it weren’t so true.

“Like rebellious teenagers, the children of the ‘Greatest Generation’ are undoing everything their parents gave them through their blood at the same time becoming everything their parent fought for in Europe.”

I must sadly agree with your father. Even though I am a baby-boomer myself - I believe my generation will go down in the history books as the most selfish, greedy, stupid, apathetic, self-serving generation ever.

We've had it too easy and this is the result. I think humans need to overcome adversity to gain real character and my generation has failed miserably.

I voted for Huckabee last week (early voting in Florida is awesome! No waiting at all) because of the "viable group" he's the only one who is constantly bringing up the importance of the 2nd Amendment. He is the only Governor out of 50 to hold a ccw permit and actually carry while he was the Governor.

The idea behind having Huckabee stay strong and win a few states is to get him as the VP for either Romney or McCain. He's young enough to run as an incumbent on his own in 8 years. Another reason is that I think he's a strong enough individual with a real heart for freedom that he will do whatever is required to stop anti-American legislation or treaties. With Huckabee in a position of influence you won't see any "North American Union." Nor will you see the sort of gun control that McCain and the RATs are known for.

The VP slot is known for being a "nothing" job just a heartbeat from the Presidency. If you have a truly weak person like Hubert Humphrey or Al Gore in that job, I would agree. But a stong individual has an opportunity to be a real restraint on Big Brother and a voice of reason.

Huck came in fourth in Florida, which is in The South...... Down south West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma, its a vote for Huckabee to beat McCain in those states.

WV and OK are not in The South.

Good Morning Advance_Copy,
Here in Alabama the majority of people I know are supporting “Mitt Romney.”

Mcshame may be a Vet and a former Pow, but he is out of touch with America. Amnesty for illegals, voting against tax cuts and against (interrogation) methods to obtain info from terrorists does not bode well.

It seems the status quo in the house/senate GOP want the same old same old M.O. to continue on. I think our tax dollars should be kept in our country, instead of giving billions to other countries in foreign aid who will never pay us back.

I guess those kick-backs, perks, open borders, prostitutes and other steal from the American Tax Payers Program is just to lucrative not to continue.

Mcshame the “Hanoi Hilton Song Bird,” rides on his POW status in an attempt to become the next POTUS.

On the demo side we have a (marxist-bi-sexual) and a (black separatist loyal to Africa)

This race will be very interesting and let’s all hope we
we can get (Mitt) in the White House for 8 years.

Take care and “America, First, Last and Always.”

Respectfully,
NSNR

That about sums it up.

But, IF he is the nominee, I still think he will be better for the US than HRC or BHO.

I’m in AL and our polls suggest Huckabee. Romney is my candidate and I’m going to vote for him. I urge you to do the same. What if you are not the only one thinking of voting for Huckabee because you think McCain will win if you don’t? I say vote Romney. If McCain wins, so be it. We are screwed either way: McCain or Huckabee.

Washington DC gave us George Washington.

Excellent point, except for the troubling historical fact that there was no Washington DC during Washington's presidency.

He was from Virginia.

Brilliant!

Romney will have to do really well in the next debate to change the momentum.

Just remember one thing, genius; Californians gave America and the world Ronald Reagan.

I think you need to remember - not so genius yourself;

the California that gave us Ronald Reagan does not exist anymore.

For someone to make such a stupid remark, I don't think I'd be so quick to be calling other people idiots all the time.

I’m more pro-Huck than others, but not fully convinced.

I could vote for him to stop McCain and would next week if I lived in a Southern state.

He’s being used as a tool right now by the media and McCain.

He should go on the attack a little more against McCain and amnesty at tonight’s debate.

Bob Beckel (Democratic strategist) said on Fox and Friends that he predicts McCain will pick Romney as his running mate.

"Huck came in fourth in Florida, which is in The South......"

Florida is largely transplanted north-easterners. That's why Rudy thought he could pull off a last minute win there. Huck didn't even try to win Florida.

Mt Vernon is a few miles outside of DC, but close enough for my point. He would not be elected in VA or DC today, that’s for sure.

I sincerely doubt that Reagan could get elected in CA today, either.

You are not serious...McCain never has been an establishment candidate. Are you Romney’s adviser? That would explain why he lost Florida.
