Assuming there is no shocking revelation or health issue, the GOP nomination is over. Conservatives need to start practicing the phrase "Nominee presumptive John McCa....."

But it's true. When the campaign comes here to Massachusetts on February 5th, I'll proudly cast my vote for any option on the GOP ballot other than You-Know-Who. But it will be a futile gesture. Mr. "1/3rd Of The GOP Primary Vote" is going to be the nominee.
He's going to win the big, left-leaning states on Tuesday. Huckabee will stay in and deny Romney a one-on-one contest for GOP voters that Captain Amnesty would almost certainly lose. The result: More wins for He Who Must Not Be Named, and fewer wins for Romney—regardless of delegate count. Florida has launched the one ship that Romney's money and Rush Limbaugh cannot stop: The U.S.S. Inevitable. It's gonna happen. Even if there were a realistic pathway to stop him, the media have seized control of the process now and are declaring him inevitable. He is, after all, the favorite son of the New York Times.
So it is over. Finished. In November, we'll be sending out our most liberal, least trustworthy candidate vs. to take on Hillary Clinton—perhaps not more liberal than Barack Obama, but certainly far less trustworthy. Exactly. If a liberal is going to be in the White House, the conservative senators will fight Hillery, they won't fight McCain. Rush talked about that a few days ago.

Yup. Another way to look at it, look how excited the Democratic Party is - they’re base is rallying and are coming out in huge numbers. Face it, a McCain nomination is a nightmare. Get ready for 8 years of President Hillary. Last night was a very depressing event. The Republic Party is going off the cliff.
Interesting that instead Of Romney's stand on immigration helping him in Florida as I had mistakenly thought it would, McCain's stand on immigration helped McCain get those endorsements in Florida, won him the Hispanic vote, and essentially put McCain over the top in Florida.
Gee, I wonder where McCain is going to get his grassroots support. **snicker** I certainly don't see his beloved mushy independent voters getting their hands dirty. 99% of them don't even know who they'll vote for until they get to the polls on election day.
I say we take our chances with Hitlery and come back swinging in 4 years once she's had a chance to make a fool of herself. We do not reward McCain for years and years of extending his middle finger to the Republicans.
Amnesty - It makes no difference whether Hillary or McCain's in the White House on that issue.
Supreme Court judges - The likely retirees would be liberals anyway, so again, no difference.
Taxes - we all know where McCain stands on that one (eek!)
War on Terror - Meh. I don't see anyone doing anything differently than we are now. McCain wants to close Guantanamo anyway.
See? Hillary really can't hurt us any more than McCain already has.
That's why now that all the conservative candidates are out of the race, thanks to the clueless GOP voters in early primary states, none of the remaining candidates can defeat either HillBillary or Sheik Obama.
McCain would lose far more than 3% of the conservative base because of his liberal Senate record, his obvious emotional and mental instability, and the fact that many conservatives hate him more than they hate Hillary or any Democrat.
Romney would lose considerably more than 3% of the evangelical voters and possibly some of the Catholic voters because of his religion and his flip flops on so many issues. We may not approve of ruling out a candidate because of his religion, but it would be a factor in the election whether we like it or not.
As for the Huckleberry, he would lose well over 3% of the voters from all sectors except perhaps evangelicals. And even many of them won't vote for him in the primaries, so he will probably be out of the race after Super Tuesday anyway.
Bottom line, unless all those millions of moderate independents who supposedly adore McCain turn out for him in droves the Democrats will hold the White House plus both houses of Congress next year. The early primary state voters should have thought of that before they drove all the conservatives out of the race before it barely got started. One thing the party won't lose this year is it's well deserved nickname, it's still the THE STUPID PARTY.
and you may be absolutely correct, i am just saying that i believe the theory that McCain runs better in a general election matchup is partially based on the polls and partially based on his attracting independents and some dems.
You are correct, I was passionately arguing immigration and conservatives one and all on this forum had decidedly labeled me a RINO.
Note the phrase I use was "conservative as me" then went on to say that if I have a problem, then the others here had a nightmare.
My beef with McCain does not include immigration. There is more than enough McCainiac notions without even touching immigration.
As you can see, it is the immigration issue that is helping McCain, not hurting him. All those Hispanics that folks here were telling me actually supported the Conservative take on the issue, are voting for McCain. They were offended by constant conservative bashing of Mexicans. Even the Cubans voted against conservatives and for McCain.
I would say that I was right, but that is not necessary. I am a conservative, but the conservative movement left me on immigration and a few sundry issues. I have not yet left it.

Largely immigration is responsible. Cuban voted for him in overwhelming numbers. The same thing is happening in California, New york, and all immigration States.
I've been screaming about this for years. Now there is proof to my allegations but it does not matter. I doubt that few will admit that it was a political mistake. The Democrats will now address it......LOL....
The ENEMEDIA is helping McCain win by not reporting anything negative about him. Voters have such a short memory. Those of us who haven't had Primaries yet need to write our newspapers and call local talk shows and REMIND people of McCain's support of AMNESTY! This one issue alone should prevent him from winning the nomination.
I will not give up my campaign against McCain until he actually gets the nomination. It is NOT over yet! We all need to unite behind Romney on the local and State level. Let's fight!
