Assuming there is no shocking revelation or health issue, the GOP nomination is over. Conservatives need to start practicing the phrase "Nominee presumptive John McCa....."
Sorry, I can't say it. Not yet.
But it's true. When the campaign comes here to Massachusetts on February 5th, I'll proudly cast my vote for any option on the GOP ballot other than You-Know-Who. But it will be a futile gesture. Mr. "1/3rd Of The GOP Primary Vote" is going to be the nominee.
He's going to win the big, left-leaning states on Tuesday. Huckabee will stay in and deny Romney a one-on-one contest for GOP voters that Captain Amnesty would almost certainly lose. The result: More wins for He Who Must Not Be Named, and fewer wins for Romneyregardless of delegate count. Florida has launched the one ship that Romney's money and Rush Limbaugh cannot stop: The U.S.S. Inevitable. It's gonna happen. Even if there were a realistic pathway to stop him, the media have seized control of the process now and are declaring him inevitable. He is, after all, the favorite son of the New York Times.
So it is over. Finished. In November, we'll be sending out our most liberal, least trustworthy candidate vs. to take on Hillary Clintonperhaps not more liberal than Barack Obama, but certainly far less trustworthy. And the worst part for the Right is that McCain will have won the nomination while ignoring, insulting and, as of this weekend, shamelessly lying about conservatives and conservatism.
You think he supported amnesty six months ago? You think he was squishy on tax cuts and judicial nominees before? Wait until he has the power to anger every conservative in America, and feel good about it.
Every day, he dreams of a world filled with happy Democrats and insulted Republicans.

If McCain is the Pub nominee, then I will seriously consider supporting OBAMA!
Why:
If he wins, McCain will take the Pubs further left & the RINOs will control the party for decades - conservatives be damned. It will just be another party of big spending, big gov’t & open borders - oops, it already is.
If McCain loses, the party will have to reorganize, & hopefully move back to the right, as it did after Bill Clinton was elected in ‘92. Remember “Contract with America” in ‘94.
If Billary wins, we will have the most corrupt, authoritarian, & socialist gov’t ever. Nothing could be worse for the country, & we will probably never recover.
But if she loses, the Billary machine will be history, & the Rats will have to reorganize, as well.
So, given nothing but real bad choices, I will support the WEAKEST of the three - Obama, knowing that he will be a relatively benign & weak president, & easily beaten by a strong conservative opponent in 2012. Obama can easily be manipulated & stymied by a reorganized & reinvigorated Pub Party, & his legislative proposals will be laughed at. Jimmy Carter was just such a president. Reagan beat the crap out of Carter in ‘80.
The worst thing that could happen to America is a Billary Presidency in ‘08 & ‘12. McCain will hand it to Hillary, much as Bob Dole did in ‘96, or take us much down the same path if he wins. Obama will the the least destructive of the 3, & far less likely to win in ‘12 than the other two.
1) Ruthlessly attack and expose McCain
2) ENDORSE ROMNEY. "
I couldn't agree more. And a while ago. A number of the pundits should have done it. At least Ann Coulter realized it a week or two ago and did it, and of course Hugh Hewitt was with Mitt from the beginning.
Some have been behaving as if there was plenty of time, when there wasn't.
Times like this are why people resort to binge drinking.
All they want is your money to support people like Specter, McCain and Lindsey Graham.
I am beyond disgusted. I cannot vote for McCain. I will not vote for McCain.
That is what I heard from Rush as well,he was a Fredhead. I wish he had broken his no endorsement rule. I love Fred.
“People just don’t like Romney...”
Everyone I know personally who supports Huckabee have told me they don’t support Romney simply because he’s Mormon. It’s sad but true.
What’s promising, however, is that now that it’s obvious Huckabee doesn’t have a chance, most of his supporters (including all of the people I know) will most likely vote for Romney just to stop McCain.
Nothing slanted, biased or ridiculous about that statement! /sarcasm
“Huckabee will stay in and deny Romney a one-on-one contest for GOP voters that Captain Amnesty would almost certainly lose.”
It hit me last night, Huckabee, delusional that he is, thinks he is doing God’s work by denying Mitt a chance at the nomination. Huckabee should be ashamed. I don’t know where some people think it is their duty as a Christian to be judge and jury. I always knew there would be a price to pay one day for this kind of bigotry within the Christian Community. I think that the price will be a Hillary Presidency. Yep, Huck’s doing God’s work alright, I hope he is real proud of himself. Huck is a Christian in Name Only.
“Nobody in the GOP establishment will get any message.
All they want is your money to support people like Specter, McCain and Lindsey Graham.
I am beyond disgusted. I cannot vote for McCain. I will not vote for McCain.”
Nor will I. The GOP also won’t see a dime from me, despite the fact that I am a party officer on the county level.
according to polls (though of course they are not too predictive as we have seen) McCain is the only one who keeps it competitive (within one or two points on either side). as much as we dont like him (and before anyone goes batty with me i voted in NH for Fred) he does seem to appeal to the squishy middle and some Democrats. this is the rationale for why he has a better shot to win.
I can tell you right now, if the reports are true about McCain not being able to stand Mitt, then McCain better get over it really quick. Because I am telling you, if he and Huck manage to keep Mitt from winning the nomination, there is no way in hell I will consider voting for McCain unless he sucks it up and has Mitt as his running mate. I would rather let the country go to hell and not give into McCain without seeing him give in a little. But that doesn’t mean I am giving up. I just prayed this morning that Mitt not be defeated by McCain, who is being benefitted by Democrats who are messsing with the open Primary System.
It will be cold day in hell before I vote for Mr. Napolean syndrome. This midget is nothing more than an egotistical ahole who could care less about America, the constitution or our freedoms. No more “bush stab thy conservative in the back’ years. I would rather know my enemy than have someone who says one thing and does the exact opposite behind my back. The elderly, the inept and the leftists got who they wanted for the GOP, now they can have Obama as their president. Good riddens with the GOP if McCain is the nominee.
McCain can appeal to the squishy middle all he wants, but unless he has the base he will lose. Think about it...the last few elections have come down to 0-3% differential between the winner and loser. Hillary or Obama would at least have the liberal base and would really be fighting for the independent vote. The independents are going to pretty much split down the middle between Republican and Democrat. McCain is already at a disadvantage because if he even loses 2% of the conservative base vote, he loses the election. I think he’ll lose more than 2% based on how much conservative voters hate him. They’ll stay home on election day.
“resurrected him a couple weeks ago at the behest of the Clinton machine, will once again lay him out cold like a mackerel.
Do you understand what I just said? Or am I speaking to deaf ears.”
I understand completely what you mean, that’s why Hillary was so excited last night in Florida, she was thrilled to see that it looks like McCain will be the nominee. Hillary has a bad reaction to Mitt, just like she had to Ronald Reagan. Hillary doesn’t like strong men of good character who are able to articulate the truth, it really gets to her. She was thrilled last night about McCain because now she has an excellent chance to become President. With Mitt, she would have to worry.
My wife is one of those people. She said she can't understand how people would vote for a guy in a cult. Many people look at the origins of Mormonism and see it as ridiculous and that anyone who would believe what Joseph Smith and early LDS leaders said was true should be thought of as a lunatic who is unfit to serve as President.
And I swear if he addresses one more person as “My friend,” or “My friends,” I think I will puke. McCain has no friend in me.
Maybe he’ll try to get his teeth fixed so he can stop whistling when he speaks.
Argh. How did we let this happen?!?!?!?!?
If McCain gets the Republican nomination I will no longer be a Republican and I will be more than happy to be part of a new CONSERVATIVE Party!
Ref: Rush endorsement
I agree. Exit polls say the endorsement from the Governor and Senator pushed McCain over the top. Romney needs a big endorsement. Rush’s policy of not endorsing a candidate is a cop-out.
