It's All Over
The Corner ^ | 01/29 09:47 PM | Michael Graham

Assuming there is no shocking revelation or health issue, the GOP nomination is over. Conservatives need to start practicing the phrase "Nominee presumptive John McCa....."

Sorry, I can't say it. Not yet.

But it's true. When the campaign comes here to Massachusetts on February 5th, I'll proudly cast my vote for any option on the GOP ballot other than You-Know-Who. But it will be a futile gesture. Mr. "1/3rd Of The GOP Primary Vote" is going to be the nominee.

He's going to win the big, left-leaning states on Tuesday. Huckabee will stay in and deny Romney a one-on-one contest for GOP voters that Captain Amnesty would almost certainly lose. The result: More wins for He Who Must Not Be Named, and fewer wins for Romney—regardless of delegate count. Florida has launched the one ship that Romney's money and Rush Limbaugh cannot stop: The U.S.S. Inevitable. It's gonna happen. Even if there were a realistic pathway to stop him, the media have seized control of the process now and are declaring him inevitable. He is, after all, the favorite son of the New York Times.

So it is over. Finished. In November, we'll be sending out our most liberal, least trustworthy candidate vs. to take on Hillary Clinton—perhaps not more liberal than Barack Obama, but certainly far less trustworthy. And the worst part for the Right is that McCain will have won the nomination while ignoring, insulting and, as of this weekend, shamelessly lying about conservatives and conservatism.

You think he supported amnesty six months ago? You think he was squishy on tax cuts and judicial nominees before? Wait until he has the power to anger every conservative in America, and feel good about it.

Every day, he dreams of a world filled with happy Democrats and insulted Republicans.

Thanks, GOP Poet, I feel the same way, last night, I had all
but given up, but I mailed my vote in for Romney, last week
out here, in CA., and I won’t give up. Yet.

Oh c’mon, it ain’t over til the fat lady sings, and I don’t see her anywhere in sight. Let’s have a POSITIVE attitude instead of acting like the FRedheads, doom and gloom, whoa is me, Romney needs our support now MORE THAN EVER, get out there and support Mitt, refute the BS that mclame is spewing, HELP OUR CANDIDATE instead of having a defeatist attitude.

McCain cannot beat her. He does not have any possible chance.

Agree. Once McCain officially gets the nomination, it will be Keating five, finance reform, etc. ad nauseum. The MSM will turn on him with a vengance. I've been predicting on FR for the past two years that Hillary is the likely next POTUS. Looking more and more likely every day.

Rush needs to get off his wealthy "EIB Profit Center" ass and do two things:

1) Ruthlessly attack and expose McCain

2) ENDORSE ROMNEY.

It's TIME for Rush to follow in the Footsteps of the "Founding Fathers" that he claims to honor ... and take his own trip across the Delaware River on an icy Christmas Eve ...

Rush ... are you listening ?

If McCain is the nominee, he will lose in a landslide. Conservatives will stay home on election day, which means McCain can expect no more than 35-40% of the overall vote. This will create the appearance of a Democrat mandate, which the MSM will feature prominently the following 8 years.

I cannot support McCain in any way. I am still PO'd about the "Gang of 14" manuever as well as his capitulation on Global Warming. Just elect a dadgum democrat so we can clearly define the enemy.

It will be impossible to do anything other than vote for the man, and indeed extremely difficult to do that.

The Huckster is in it just to be a spoiler, more than willing to help one of the biggest betrayers to Republicans and Conservatives ever. I'd like to tell him where to go as well.

Lets see how much money he has left. He spent most of it in Florida.

McCain doesn't need money to clean Romney's clock on Tuesday. He didn't have much in FL and was already leading in many 2/5 states. The free media he will get from winning last night will be plenty to keep Romney at bay. People just don't like Romney and the more money he spends, the worse he does.

Huckabee needs to get his ass OUT and stop muddying the waters at this crucial time.

He has ZERO chance of winning the nomination, therefore he has ZERO reasons to stay in.

Get out, Huckabee. Now.

Amen.

Paul. Huckabee. Romney.

In roughly that order of increasing "hold my nose" factor.

I cannot, will not, no matter the consequences, vote for McInsane.

Gang of 14, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy.

How many times does this guy need to stab us in the back before we get him "figured" out?

If Romney can’t win NH, SC, or FL how is he going to pull out CA, NY, NJ or even MO. Romney’s opposition to amnesty doomed him in FL among the Cubans. You think that helps him win CA?!? Let’s face it we’re screwed.

McCain win in FL = President Hillary. The sooner you accept this the sooner you can move on.

"I will be looking for a offshoot party to take it's place, because you can't do much with rubble and a person as conservative as myself, will have a hard time joining with GOP moderates and if it is hard for me,"

I could have sworn in one of your posts over a year ago you said you weren't a conservative. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It is amazing that a guy for whom there was never any real support but for a few in the party (and I agree with you, btw), is already poised to win the nomination in a race in which until this moment, many were predicting would end in a brokered convention. McCain, with the help of the mainstream media (unfortunatley they aren't quite lame yet) and a few Republican supporters, was able to get the cards to fall his way.

I won’t vote for McCain.

Personally, I’ve always liked the guy. He’s a feisty pirate that tells good jokes. I worked for people like him in the Army. They inspired loyalty and enthusiasm in their people, but in the end were only about themselves. This man is a disaster as a Presidential candidate on so many levels. Yes, I would rather see Hillary or Obama get it than McCain.

I won’t vote for McCain.
