How many think McCain will simply be this elections Bob Dole? (Vanity)
Jan 30, 2008 | Ice Flyer

It has been some time since the 1996 Elections where a Bill Clinton won re-election over Robert Dole. While Dole was a leader in the Senate and in many ways a decent guy he would never have been the first choice of people on the right. However, it seemed that it was "his turn" and that he was somehow owed this opportunity.

He could not have been a more lack luster candidate.

Are we to get the same from McCain? The field of candidates does not impress most on the right...but least of all do I see McCain being the one to sweep us off our feet in any general election.

Another reason for term limits in my mind as McCain and the rest of the field represent nothing more than an aristocratic class of people whom never seem to leave office and yet dare to call themselves the vehicle for change.

I do, except as Ann said he doesn’t have the good qualities Dole had.

Hillary will take the Dem nomination, and McCain will beat her. I wish I could be happy about that, but I’m not really.

Now there’s an original thought.

The answer is, of course, no.

I was too young in ‘96 to follow the election, but I at least liked Bob Dole as a person. John McCain’s personality grates on me.

Bob Dole is at least a very nice, honorable man.
John McCain ain’t no Bob Dole.

Bob Dole is a good man. I’ll never regret my vote for Bob Dole, only that he lost.

Anyone who thinks there is any similarity is a biased idiot.

Dole ran against a popular, incumbent President at a time of peace and prosperity and made a decent showing.

The current situation is nothing like that.

BUCK UP YOU SORELOSERS! MCCAIN IS GONNA WIPE THE FLOOR WITH THE BEAST! OR THE MUSLIM!

Yep, just as the Clintons and MSM wanted. They rushed through these primaries trying to push out candidates at every turn. After just a few weeks and with less than 10% of the delegates assigned everyone has dropped out but basically two candidates (Huck is still in there technically, along with Paul).

Now, it is set up so Hillary can easily trounce an old has been Senator just as they did in 1996. One of HRC’s biggest problems was being a Senator, as Senators are never elected to the White House. Well, now there is no choice. One has to be, and you can place money that it will be her.

McCain beat Hillary...maybe, but who is positive she’ll be the nominee?

Whether Mccain or Hillary win, one things for certain, conservatives will lose. I think the best bet for conservatives at this point is concentrate on getting conservatives elected to the senate and the house this election to limit the damage a Mccain/Hillary will do.

Neither can/will/did win. The difference is that no one is giving the crown to McWalnuts in an uncontested year.

Dole ran against the formidable, charismatic Bill.
McCain will run against the === well, you saw her last night. The sourpuss.

Can I have some of what you're smoking? McPain is the Democrats' dream opponent. The elderly, liberal nut will be lucky to carry more than a few states.
