McCain beats Romney in Florida GOP race

MIAMI - Sen. John McCain won a breakthrough triumph in the Florida Republican primary Tuesday night, edging past former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and seizing precious campaign momentum for next week's string of contests across 21 states.

"It shows one thing: I'm the conservative leader who can unite the party," the Arizona senator said in a brief interview with The Associated Press. "It's a very significant boost, but I think we've got a tough week ahead and a lot of states to come."

The victory was worth 57 national convention delegates for McCain, a winner-take-all's haul and the largest single prize to date in the race.

Rudy Giuliani was in third place, his best showing of the campaign but possibly not good enough to warrant continuing.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee trailed but told supporters he would forge on.

Meant to say “didn’t they just close in the Panhandle?” I don’t know how it works there, but here precincts don’t report to the county until at least a half hour after closing time.

This just goes to prove something I have been saying for a long time. There are a lot of dumb ars Americans. And it looks like most of them were in Florida today.

John McCain will be the Republican nominee for President

It is certainly possible but not a certainty yet. He has some momentum - granted - but he is only slightly ahead of Romney in the total delegate count as I recall. Obviously we should know Super Tues.

Assuming McCain wins the nomination, my order of voting - Between McCain and Obama: Obama - Between McCain and Clinton: McCain.

Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, other than Clinton

Name one state voting on Super Tuesday in which Romney is leading. And that’s considering BEFORE Florida.

With Giuliani’s voters going to McCain, Romney is dead.

OK I see, thanks. The voting irregularities we been hearing about (New Hampshire) are happening quite regularly.

That should be what Republicans should be thinking. In all honesty, since it looks more and more like McCain (as angry as it makes me), will get the nomination, I guess my hopes for the future of this country rest with the VP choice. Most certainly, in this time of war, I cannot trust the futures of my small children with Hillary and Obama.

“We could probably survive as a nation with McLame at the helm.”

Maybe some of us will be so depressed we won’t care about suriving. Who cares about surviving when you have an adulterer representing you, and I might add, an unrepentent adulterer. I haven’t heard McCain telling any stories claiming to have found Jesus.

The third party or fourth party will be our only hope. The Republican Party has failed us, the conservatives.

"It shows one thing: I'm the conservative leader who can unite the party,"

He is no conservative leader. And he cannot "unite" the party.

The Constitution Party has constituted itself as a Christian sectarian party. I believe in the separation of church and state.

The America First Party is new to me. I’ll give it a close look.
