Did not see it posted yet, here we go folks!
Thanks....I’m floored....like: what was the point ?
mama mia !
Yeah, that was real necessary....not.
I can see it now, the McCain-Schumer national gun ban.
Bzzzzt.
You scored
I can only speak to those I know personally, and currently serving, is they highly regard his military history. That, and that they are too busy fighting a war, with not much time to spend delving into politics.
Your mileage may vary, just my take from what I’ve heard.
We’ll see what happens on primary Tuesday. That should tell us where we stand in the fight for conservatism.
I live in central California. It’s a pretty conservative area. Unfortunately the highly populated areas on the coast are very liberal and they have the votes to call the shots.
Someone posted this earlier on this thread. I agree with it.
Romney has to go NUCLEAR on the immigration issue. That’s the only thing that can turn this thing around at this point. He needs to NAIL McCain to the failed amnesty bill and drive this point him consistently in the debate and in his advertising. This can’t be a tepid response, Romney needs to spell things out forcefully and repeatedly regarding immigration. Otherwise, he will lose on 2/5 and the country will lose in November.
Well then, maybe Jim Robinson has some explainin... to do.
Contradictions?? LOL. Every FReeper can project on JR.
Romney should have unequivocally put to rest any doubts about his stance on gun rights and he didn’t do that . I said this would cost him dearly well over a year ago, but the campaign wouldn’t listen to the gun rights advocates .
I know gunowners who voted for McPain on that issue alone because he came across better than Romney on the gun issue .
Romney blew it with this issue, as it’s the base of grassroots support in tight contests . Pro-gun Crist came out for McPain and that sealed the deal .
Michael Bloomberg could probably defeat her in a general election, but I see no reason to support him.
McCain is not simply a "maverick," but someone who's done everything in his power to thwart good policy and dissolve our Constitutional freedoms.
You can't call yourself a patriotic, conservative American and vote for someone who not only advocates suppressing our natural rights, but has actually implemented policy to that effect.
I might agree with you, but we can’t do that either because the people who are on that side of the immigration debate aren’t all pro-life, and the social conservatives won’t go for it.
Plus, once you get past the “secure the borders”, a lot of social conservatives are with Huckabee (the pre-sellout huckabee), that compassion is better than punishment.
In fact, I think Huckabee’s pandering on the illegal immigrant issue is what started costing him evangelicals. See, the immigration issue splits our coalition, because the social conservatives are not clearly on the same side. Huckabee had that going for him. Now our party has nobody who appeals to any moderation on that issue.
We are working to drive away everybody who isn’t pure on every issue, and there aren’t likely to be more than 10% of the country that is pure on every issue, kind of a small base.
If the republican party can define their goals, and those goals aren’t so jingoistic as to be laughable, or so adamantly pro-life as to scare off even people who would largely ban abortion, but who are scared of losing their contraceptives, or so adamantly pro-war that it appears we shoot first and ask question later, we can bring people to the right side.
We can be adamant, but we can’t demand adamantcy as a condition of acceptance into the votership.
Frankly, we are about to get a ruder awakening than McCain’s election — because the people aren’t with “us” on illegal immigration, they simply weren’t with the “pro-amnesty” group.
The anti-mexican movement overplayed it’s hand in Prince William county. They got a resolution that is reasonable but modest, but billed it as some great change, and people see through it and know they are demagoging. Now two candidates in Manssas City (which has a real problem and has voters ready to act against the illegals) were rejected to the council, which has no democrats because they have little presense.
Get it — in a city that pretty much is all “republican”, two candidates who were members of Help Save Manassas were rejected for being too extreme on an issue that the electorate says is important to them. The other three spoke of common-sense solutions.
One of those two was a dear friend of mine who actually was very good on the issue and would have done OK I think if he wasn’t a member of the HSM organization.
I highly regard his military history too. It’s the one thing he has going for him here (and I mean here as in my vote). It’s the only thing I like about him. but I still don’t trust him even when it comes to the military.
That was a quote from Jim Robinson. Not a projection. If you’ve got a problem with what he wrote, why don’t you take it up with him?
ROFLMAOAPIMPRFI
Sorry for the delay, I lost power here.
Anyhoo....The answer to the money question is simple. It came from the 527s he created when they passed McCain- Finegold. These 527s attacked Romney with BS and it worked.
C’mon, Nana! It’s 2007!
Forget your worries, c’mon get happy!
You’re right Ingtar. These liberal republicans have left us with the choice of a rock or a hard place. They thought they were being cute making fun of the real conservatives. Instead of supporting the conservatives, they talked up their lib candidates. Now that their lib is toasted by another lib, they are up in arms screaming like chicken little.
I tend to agree with that. However, he invited people to check his Massachusetts record and, well, the roegone.org folks did.
“You almost wonder if it wasnt planned this way...”
Yep...by Bigwig Party Central...Planned almost down to a T...same as the nominating convention will be..Oh the conservative voice will be heard-faintly- and the liberal Reps will be yelling for their guys to be nominated..in the end it will come down to : screw the conservatives and the right wing, we’ll pick a ‘centrist’ (=liberal) who can win and pick up some seats for us in Congress...if the lib/centrist gets out of hand our guys in congress will box him in and set him straight...and the sheep will go baa baa...
Remember awhile back Giuliani was ill and went into the hospital? He was quickly released, but then dropped from view and started hanging out in Florida with his new one state strategy.
About the same time McCain started his rise from the ranks of the politically dead. Then in the first New Hamphire debate all the candidates attacked Mitt.
Then Thompson attacked Huckabee and Huckabee attacked Mitt. And who attacked McCain or Giuliani?
