“He (McCain) is the least likely to lose in the general, thats why he gets my vote.”
Can you picture the grouchy OLD Republican warhorse up against the young, dynamic, progressive JFK/MLK-like Obama? Especially seeing as how about half of all Republicans hate McCain, while dreamy-eyed Democrat young America is swooning for Obama? And the full-court media press for Obama that will be in effect? Can you say Dole vs Clinton redux?

Bitter aftertaste, isn’t it?

Until Romney had to push his conservative credentials just to stay even with the conservatives, he WAS the candidate to appeal to democrats, he had won in Mass.

But appealing to democrats made him unappealing to conservatives. Conservatives aren’t a trusting lot anyway, so you can’t get away with pulling a fast one on liberals, because the conservatives will spoil it.

What you don't understand, what some Mitt supporters don't understand is that RINO liberal talk like yours is what has doomed this party. Pro life people will not vote for a pro choice person. It ain't going to happen.

You can whine and cry about it all you want. You can wish things were different, but they aren't. As far as what the world thinks of us -- we don't care. We don't live for the world, we live for Our Lord and it is His World. He made it and He made us.

"Especially when those same people are also up in arms about the plan-b pill, which at worst is only SOMETIMES an abortion pill, and which is used primarily in cases of rape, where most of our pro-life elected officials still SUPPORT abortion, which mostly gets doctors out of the procedure, which is not seen as an abortion pill by most people which means it does not contribute to the coursening of our culture like medical procedure abortions do,"

Are the babies being killed by this plan-b bill? Yes? Then yes, our culture is being made course by the those who think these precious babes, created in God's image, are worthless. I don't believe, I've ever seen such ignorant crap on this conservative forum.

So now you've outed yourself as pro-abortion. You've already outed yourself as pro-gay. Why are you here? Have you read the front page of this site where it states what kind of forum this is? If all Romney supporters are like you, I can guarantee he won't be many evangelical votes and you are not helping his case whatsoever.

After you have exposed all the republicans, will you ever spend a second actually fighting the democrats? Or will you have completed your assignment?

If you actually believe I fit that description, I recommend you wait there for the ward nurse, she’ll be along just now.

"If the man had any integrity at all, he’d resign and spend the rest of his life and the rest of his money trying to undo some of the wrong he’s done."

I agree will Jim Robinson completely. That is exactly what Romney should be doing with all the Lord has blessed him with.

I’ve tried to explain how there is a large segment of voters that normally vote Republican that will never get behind Romney. When they learn more about McCain, the ones misled now will fall away from him also. They will not hold their nose and vote for someone that is pro-death, indistinguishable from pro-death, or worked to appoint pro-death judges... or ganged up to defeat Bush’s judges for that matter. All I hear is how I hate a candidate. It is not hate. It is too recent a conversion on his part and continuing to support the “other side” after he claimed to convert.

OK, maybe you don’t exactly fit that description, but your guy McCain does in spades.

McPain has just as much of a mixed record as Romney on the gun issue...

The issue isn't just record. McCain regards conservatives as enemies. While Hillary would have some difficulty getting unified Democrat support behind clearly-unjustifiable attacks on conservatives, McCain would have no such problem. Both McCain and Hillary would like to be dictators-for-life, but McCain would be more likely to get away with it.

Just struck me...that was good insight Mr Wayne, but nowadays it seems like politics is all about money and to heck with principals...

Many of us here adhere to Conservatism because we have a Higher moral code...many more adhere because the conservative principals fit their own ideas about life in America..we take the high, hardworking road...

The Dems seem to focus more on money and power..They threw out God from their secular politics long ago and see money as the means to all ends, from getting to the WH to using taxes to further their liberal/socialist agenda...they like the wide easy road, filled with handouts along the way...

So we are fighting an uphill battle but in the long run it is we who are defending the freedoms and way of life our country has fought for...our job now is to work smarter, not necessarily harder...collectively we have the right answers for our country’s problems...and it’s not all about money and rapid social change...change, but in a way that benefits everybody ...

That’s what I don’t understand. Most military I know (current and former) can’t stand him. My late dad, WWII vet, liked him for years but couldn’t stand him before he died in 99. I don’t know any current military or former military that would vote for him. They don’t trust him.

I’m surprised he won with them.

Romney is a strong candidate. Thompson has not endorsed. Complementary skills and appeal. The combination could be a winning one.

If McCain is the GOP’s “best hope”, then the GOP is done. I won’t vote for him, and from the sounds of it, I will not be alone.

McCain's attacks on Romney are so disingenuous.

The only gun-owners who would support him are those who view the 2nd Amendment through the prism of hunting-and to a lesser extent, self-protection-and are mostly from the left. If you ask people from GOA or JPFO you get a much broader perspective, i.e. you can't shred the Bill of Rights without destroying the RKBA.

The right to keep and bear arms is the cornerstone of our Constitution, and everyone knows that there's nothing McCain despises more than that document.

THe worst part is that a good number of the people who were cheering on McCain in Florida here on FR won’t actually support him — in fact if you tell them you are supporting McCain they’ll call you stupid.

There was definitely a group here who didn’t want republicans to win at all. Whether they are really conservatives who want to destroy their own cause, or they are well-placed operatives, they do their job well.
