Rudy Giuliani appears to be pondering an end to his long pursuit of the Republican presidential nomination.
In a meeting in the back of his chartered plane en route to St. Petersburg, Fla., a short while ago, the onetime, longtime GOP front-runner told a small group of reporters, including The Times' Louise Roug: "The winner of Florida will win the nomination."

Rudy is anti-McPain, thats all that matters
I agree with you on all counts.
I tried to make that point earlier.
I live in Miami. I don't know of ANYBODY who even remotely likes Rudy. I do drive right by the Versailles Cafeteria (ground zero for the exile community in Little Havana) everyday on the way home from work and Rudy has a HUGE sign next door, facing the establishment. But currently he is running fourth slightly behind Huckabee. Given the huge effort he's supposed to have put into Florida, that's pretty bad. I voted early (for Huckabee) and supposedly Rudy has a lot of the early votes sewn up. Somehow, I rather doubt that.
As for McCain, once Republicans get a real gander at his record, I don't think he's going to do so well. If we're lucky, somebody will goad him just right in a press conference and we'll get to see a Dean Scream moment in the midst of a total McCain meltdown and he'll be burger, well done.
It's both.
Ironically, the Drive-Bys pushed Rudy as our nominee for so long and now they push him out his plane door...at 30K feet.
I know I’m happy to hear that Rudy is considering jumping out. I kinda figured this would happen with his poor showing thus far in polls in Florida.
Sad news. Giuliani is the last of the conservatives in the running. If this is true - and it looks like it will be very soon - the remaining GOP candidates include The #1 RINO, A NE Socialist, a Clintonesque nanny-stater, and a nutter. 3 RINOs and Ron Paul.
“Giuliani is the last of the conservatives in the running”
I hope you forgot your sarcasm tag. Maybe you should review Mr. Robinson’s opinion of Ghouliani.
I believe the latter is what will happen. I no longer want to be a part of the Republican party as it is right now. It no longer is conservative at all. This is the first election I remember when so many ( the majority) of Republicans are disenchanted. Those I talk to are ready to split now.
heavily Jewish community in Boca Raton, FL.... pro-Hillary.
Too bad for them...the Palestinians love Hillary too.
Here the story Monk
Good, idea, he should run for mayor in 2009.
Probably makes Martha Stewart look like a Girl Scout. :)
“Woo hoo!! Go home, Rudy!! Victory!!”
It was fun slamming his candidacy and helping people see the light... But now what? I joined FR during the RudyPurge for the sole purpose of adding my voice to the chorus of conservatives who were saying “If it’s Giuliani, he’s doing it without my help!” But the remaining candidates don’t really excite me. I always figured once Rudy was out of the picture I’d be leaving FR, that I’d be a Primary-season-poster.
I don’t see much in the remaining candidates to really get me fired up, though they all have strengths and weaknesses in totally different areas. Major issues for me are abortion and immigration, and no candidate is strong on both. Well, not believably so. And with the democrat field so divided, it’s hard to know which candidate would fare best versus their eventual, unknown nominee. Obama and Clinton’s weaknesses do not coincide, outside of their liberal policies, and where one Republican might fare well against Clinton he might crash and burn versus Obama. And vice versa.
In summary: I’m glad Rudy’s gone - but boy am I gonna miss bashing him. I’m gonna need a new hobby.
The New York Liberals in Palm Beach Florida can’t vote - LEGALLY.
Which is why I'm glad he's still in, in Florida. After Rooty drops out, my guess is that his 5% of the vote goes to McCainiac. That might be enough for a victory in the winner-take-all states.
With Rooty, primaries are like marriages, the first few don't really count...

He then went on to predict he would win. And his spokeswoman, Maria Comella, said later he was speaking with confidence."
Just a hit job...nothing more...
Yep. You can bet he would be a strong candidate for Homeland Security. Not sure about AG but perhaps some cabinet job.
Thx for the news.
I truly hope he drops out. I think any candidate on either side would be better than Rooty. He would destroy the conservative cause.
Larry Flynt is deeply saddened? I just always wondered about that Flynt comment. Someone mentioned in the thread title seemingly went in hiding the day after Flynt made his threat.
