Rudy Giuliani appears to be pondering an end to his long pursuit of the Republican presidential nomination.
In a meeting in the back of his chartered plane en route to St. Petersburg, Fla., a short while ago, the onetime, longtime GOP front-runner told a small group of reporters, including The Times' Louise Roug: "The winner of Florida will win the nomination."

What I want to know is where in the heck did this guy get the headline because if Rudy said he was dropping out it was written in invisible ink. Rudy has a ton of votes in the box in Florida and huge and enthusiastic crowds. Romney had 150 people yesterday in Clearwater — the seat of the Church of Scientology in florida and who is doing GOTV for Romney — so if they are GOTV that is not a very good turn out when Rudy is getting over a thousand at a stop.
Imagine a McCain/Giuliani ticket.
Talk about a luke war bucket of horse sweat...
LOL
Riiiight.
He had prostate cancer. That isn’t exactly grandiose plans. In retrospect, it is good he didn’t become a senator, since senators rarely ever win the WH.
It doesn't matter because his supporters are aware that's what is about to happen anyway. There are numerous reports of Rudy supporters giving up on him in FL and going to McCain or Romney, before Tuesday's results get here.
For some, I’m sure....
Giuliani`s campaign is in deep trouble.
It will be a grand day when Rooty drops out.
The choices left to GOP voters aren’t any better.

Gee. That's an interesting prediction. I confess I don't trust the man at all.
It was. It’s been verified.
McCain did it and said Fred was going to endorse him.
It was done to boost his own numbers, which is why McCain finished so close behind Fred.
McCain was trying to grab that 3rd ticket out of Iowa out of Fred’s hand.
That’s what I’ve been saying. After Rudy does a stop people go and vote. I know local poll workers who said after he left my area they had an influx of votes. Those votes aren’t reflected in the polls.
He just never seemed all that hungry for the top job.
Rudy got 20 people in Orlando two days ago.
Yup. His bus was rolling all over the state, and his ads were running on TV.
His ridiculous "America's mayor" message was not well received. And then, like his supposed tax cutting ways while mayor, he completely distorted reality.
For the irony impaired, that's a reference to Guiliani's quote of "I'd give my daughter the money for it [an abortion]."
I think he knows he won’t be VP.
Woo-Hoo and Hip-Hip, Hooray!!!! Woo-Hoo and Hip-Hip, Hooray!!!!
The Romney-cultists are in pure hyperdrive.... full BS mode.
What are you basing your argument on then? How many points do you see Guiliani winning Florida by? And how big a margin will he go on to win NY, NJ and CA by?
Polls do swing wildly and do continuously show large numbers of people making their minds up at the last minute (though, strangely, when those people do exactly what the polls say they might and reach a decision at the last minute, everyone says the polls are wrong....)
That’s why it’s sensible to look at a range of polls, look at trends, allow for other factors and not just look at the headline figures. Poll after poll shows Rudy struggling to beat Huckabee for a distant third in California. Trends show his support tanking there, as it’s tanked everywhere else (and in states that have already voted, this has been confirmed by the actual vote).
THAT IT IS. NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PROTECTING INNOCENT HUMAN LIFE
It is paramount for a Nation to have values worth defending......the sanctity of life is just such a pre-eminent value.
What kind of a democracy would Rooty be defending around the globe?
Abortion worshipper Rooty billed himself as the WOT candidate----yet he would preside over defending and promoting home-grown terrorism on the unborn.
In the last analysis, it was positively nauseating to contemplate Rooty ordering even one brave American soldier into battle to defend his belief in the public financing and government-sanctioned killing of unborn babies.
