You’re right! Just like Reagan, Romney will bring in the disaffected Democrats.

Social Security
Border Security
Economic Security
Healthcare
War on Terror

Russert was left scratching his head in disbelief.

Russert is a scumbag. His question concerning unemployment rates was as bogus as it gets. He compares an unemployment rate from 2001 to now inferring that Bill Clinton's economy was simply marvelous. What he doesn't tell you is that Bush inherited a recession while Clinton inherited a growing economy.

I was surprissed that none of the Republicans were adept enough to make Russert eat his words.

For the record the unemployment rate today is below the average unemployment rate for the 70's, 80. and yes even the Clinton 90's.

Russert makes Josef goebbels llok like an objective journalist.

His web site states he is against new gun bans, and doesn’t support a new AWB. It even explains what he means by “unusual lethality”, and it makes perfect sense, even if you don’t agree with him it’s not stupid phrase.

He won’t seek to overturn the 1934 law. He will support the existing laws restricting access to the weapons covered by that law.

Some day we should have a thread to discuss at length whether the Founder’s concept of am armed citizenry to overthrow the government if needed is workable today. Back then, no single citizen could do much, no matter how many weapons he owned — overthrow would require the “vote” of a large population, and the acquiescence of a lot more.

Today, one man with a nuclear device could destroy a city, and giving every citizen one wouldn’t be able to stop him, it would just make it worse. The weapons have become of “unusual lethality”, and I’m torn as to where the line should be drawn in allowing citizens access to those weapons. I’m kind of glad my next-door neighbor can’t have an ammo dump that could take out the neighborhood if he makes a stupid mistake.

But without access to that type of weapon, we have no chance to stop tyranny.

I am anti-unfettered captitalism; always have been; always will; and my Pope also complains about excess consumerism. Not really interested in what you think.

Romney did well and he’s always in an upbeat mood. We need that kind of optimism.

The only time I winced all night was when McCain spoke of carbon credits.

Good point! I forgot about that episode.

And if Romney is elected, you will get more of that freedom of speech back, because he will push to repeal the McCain anti-free-speech bill that Fred Thompson supported.

I didn’t know Malaria was still such a terrible illness/disease for well-heeled travelers like Matthews in this day and age... but what do I know?

Don’t quote me on this, but I believe he got it on a trip to Africa. Maybe it was on a Safari or something. I just can’t remember, but I do believe he contracted it on a trip to Africa. He showed pictures of the trip when he got back, on his TV show.

“Florida’s Gov. Suntan was glowing in the dark in the audience.”

He’s the same misguided Butt-Head that is pushing for the Feds to underwrite insurance for mostly high end properties on Fla’s Coasts.

Fred was thinking exactly what you and I are thinking... and he has that same putrid feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Did you just get off the phone with him? Or are you just projecting your negativity on the man because you want to steal his good name to your own predelictions?

Looking through the fog I see what this Republican race is going to come down to. It’s already pretty much down to McCain or Romney. I think Romney might screw us over. I know McCain WILL screw us over.

I guess there is something wrong with practiced at being good it what you do, make the union workers feel out of place.

I should know when I had to be part of a union I had to be less ambitious as not to offend the other workers.

Although I am a contributor, I visit FR less and less these days.

I am SO tired of the sniping and lack of confidence in any of the quasi-conservative candidates (i.e.: Romney, Giuliani and Huckabee).

You have to play with the hand that is dealt to you, unless you can run or finance an alternative. O.K., so it sucks. But, Reagan is dead and the Republican party has been bought by the politically correct Washington elites.

Are you going to give in to Barack/Hillary, or support one of the less than conservative, outside the beltway, evils and keep an 'R' in office?

Flame away . . .

Had a good conversation with a very staunch democrat who is a respected friend. We can actually discuss politics sanely. She is very afraid of Obama and said she would vote for Romney if Obama got the nod.

because it is a union. Firefighter unions backed Kerry in 2004. That’s what they do.
