Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh stunned his listeners by announcing that he might not support the Republican presidential nominee in this years election.
Limbaugh said on Mondays show: "I can see possibly not supporting the Republican nominee this election, and I never thought that I would say that in my life."
The reason: You dont have a genuine down-the-list conservative among the GOP candidates.
Wherever you go here in this roster of candidates, you're going to be able to point out not conservative, what he did there is not conservative Rush said.
The Republican front-runners want the nomination because it's their turn, he also stated. We tried that in '96 with Bob Dole and now they're running the same scenario
"I'm telling ya, it's gonna come down to which guy do we dislike the least. And that's not necessarily good."

no, you should listen to anti-hucks. granted some of the claims are hyperbole. Consider Huck to be W-lite this has been a rough 8 years, you want to hand 4 more years over to someone that wants to work more with democrats? who probably wouldn’t have held his ground near as much as W has.
I think I’m pushing oars in the same conservative boat as you, N.
The only difference is that there is a real chance that Obama would be the nominee for the D-side. That would probably goad me into voting for Obama just so a real conservative can swoop in and fill in the ^huge crater^ left behind by his all-out attempt at socialism.
Mitt? He may. I wont.
Thanks Rush! You really do practice what you preach!
sybeck I have came to this conclusion. I never would’ve guessed mcain to be in the running. I think he is been boosted up so the core gets riled up and endorses Romney. but then isnt the core that decides who wins these primaries. I might have some flaw in my logic.
There's a lot of people here who believe it & that floors me. Romney must be a better snake-oil salesman than Edwards.
i agree virginia...I wont forgive Rush for the GOP we have now. He couldve supported a good conservative and I wouldnt care if his endorsement helped or not at least he would be in the right.
I can’t hold my nose and vote for Romney. Mc Cain was never my choice, but when it comes down to a guy who spent 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton and Hillary or Obama, I will take the former POW any day. Sorry guys. He’s still a person who like me went to an unpopular war and did what he thought was the right thing for his country. What did Romney or any of his 5 sons do for their country?
I didn’t say you said it was. I was just pointing out that it wasn’t, before someone came in and claimed you were trying to mislead them.
Sorry about that. The mitt-bashers are looking for any little thing to attack about, and I’ve gotten maybe overly defensive.
The only problem is that we are living in a post-9/11 world. Get the choice wrong in 2008 - and with a Democratic Congress to boot - and that “huge crater left behind” might be more than just a figure of speech.
I don’t believe we have the luxury of allowing four years of Democrat Party control of the legislative and executive branches of our Federal Government. I believe the price of wreckage and ruin would be incalcuable to our nation.
He has said that twice before. I agree with him, there is no longer a conservative on the ticket.
Sorry. I don’t remember any mitt supporters claiming that the “one guy” was their guy, back when Thompson was still in the race. I know I didn’t.
I would have disagreed if I had seen that. It was clear to me that Rush was happier with Thompson than he was with Romney. But that he also had a problem with Thompson. On monday he made clear what it was, and it made sense — Thompson’s support for McCain/Feingold, since Rush is in the free speech business, he saw that as a red flag issue.
Compare Rush's failure with the valiant effort made by Mark Levin on behalf of Fred. Mark really went to the mat for Fred, having him on his show almost daily. It was too little, too late, considering how late Fred was in getting into the race and how poorly he campaigned. But, at least Mark tried. Rush didn't...
Doh!
And yes, I am listening to Huck as well... Very carefully.
Example: I am getting tired with Huck kissing Macaca's a** all the time :)... This makes me uncomfortable!... I did not like FT because of his friendship with Macaca - one of the minor reasons - And I am hoping Huck clarifies this association with Macaca.
HUCK: Would you accept the VP from Macaca? yes/no. I would love to know that! :)
I have a couple of extra rolls of foil if you run out!
You understood that? Translate for the rest of us!

Sure! Here’s a cut at it:
JABBERWOCKY
Lewis Carroll
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought —
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
“And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!’
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
The man said there was "no down the list conservative". Period, what ever inference you have is your own. The meaning of the statement is that none of the politicians left are conservative.
This is a fatal error that many on FR make, bringing up the "we had to survive Carter to get Reagan" bromide. It doesn't apply in the cycle.
We barely survived Carter, even though he was basically a bumbling, inept clown. We survived by the skin of our teeth. We had 20% inflation and 10% unemployment, a disastrous foreign policy that left us weakened and adrift in the world. And that was with a buffoon at the helm.
Neither Hillary or Obama are bumbling, inept buffoons. They are cold, calculating socialist-Marxist political machines. Hillary and Obama are both acolytes of Saul Alinsky. Obama used Alinsky's methods in "organizing" Chicago slum neighborhoods. Hillary wrote her thesis about him. Obama is pure Fabian socialist. Hillary is a Marxist Socialist to the core. They are both about wealth redistribution, massive government, and unlimited access to abortion funded by taxpayer dollars. Jimmy Carter, for all his faults, was none of those things.
Yes, we survived Carter and got Reagan. But we won't survive Hillobama.
