This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:
"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of Americas industrial base."
"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.
I might have liked FDR, and I might not have liked him.
The fact remains that FDR, as most past Presidents, tried like heck to hide their infirmities because it makes voters and the public uncomfortable.
Most people did not even know FDR was in a wheelchair, because he and his handlers did not want people to know.
I'm not saying anything that is not true. It is just a fact of public life.
It's no secret that voters, especially women, like Presidents who are tall.
Michael Dukakis couldn't BUY a vote.
Yet the ladies were swarming all over to vote for tall and decent looking Bill Clinton.
JFK defeated the dour looking Richard Nixon, in part because people liked his looks.
I'm not trying to be mean.
I'm just stating reality. People might not want to admit it .... but looks matter a great deal.

I'll give him a good look. Rest assured all loyal Hunter supporters will. Don't let the poofters on this thread pale the issue. Huckster might be the guy. Rush wouldn't like it at all, but WTH? Huck's better than the other oily buggahs.
“Look at his record on how he worked and utilized the illegal immigrant worker in Arkansas.”
Better he should have deported them...ALL of them.
Where is Rachel Faith? Oh, Rachel, did you predict this one, just like you have predicted everything else......?
I can give you a link to a hunting forum where there are posts from 2005 discussing hunting with him, who trains his hunting dogs, what a great guy he is for supporting our Second Amendment, etc..
The thread started with a guy from Michigan lamenting, after seeing Huckabee on a hunting television show, he wished he had a Governor like that in his state.
This was all before he even announced his candidacy for President.
The captions were pale like many freepers reading this thread.
Speaking of prayer.........did you see the new poll FR has?
Same.
One thing that Pastor Hartman brought up in our meeting in Iowa was the sentiment of many Christians and pastors to defend Israel. Dr. Paul stated that he did not believe that we do Israel any favors and we actually weaken Israel by our constant meddling and intervention. I agree.Ron Paul is not Israel's enemy. And neither is he the enemy to Christian liberty and constitutional government.
Ron Paul's non-interventionist and constitutional foreign policy approach would help, not hurt, Israel to resolve tensions with their neighbors. Remember, Israel has more nuclear missiles to defend themselves than all of the Middle East nations combined. Believe me, Israel knows how to defend itself. And know this: America's constant meddling curses Israel more than it blesses.
I'm with you AuntB! I disliked Huckabee's record from the beginning, but it was the way he deceptively attacked Romney about Mormonism using a journalist and then "playing dumb", and then making an attack add that he wasn't going to show, but then showed it to the media any way...that showed me his character, or lack of, and at that point I knew I would NEVER EVER vote for him. He reminds me of Bill Clinton. I am pro life, but I at least have respect for Rudy for being honest for what he believes in.
Huckabee is dishonest, he a populist, NOT a conservative, and I don't trust him, and never will.
I'm going with Romney!
Sorry for the rant, I am just so mad right now...
LOL.
ditto.
It seems only the good Repubs are infected with this—I noticed when Davis was challenged by William Simon (Jr) he was soft-spoken and made himself almost non-existent—and lost. Dan Lungren was quiet and bland as vanilla. Lost. And Pres. Bush has been polite to the extreme in l000 instances, when even Dhims would have respected some really angry retorts. Give me Reagan! Remember him, telling a heckler, *Oh, shut up!* And of course, *I paid for this microphone!* He was fearless.
She kind of looks like Tori Spelling.
I don’t believe what we, even to the point of killing, do to an animal says anything about a country.
I believe what is done to a country’s people and unborn, does.
Try not to get upset. Mitt’s doing better than Huckabee in Florida. In fact, Huck left Florida.
Romney has some big flaws, but I don’t agree with you that he is weak on immigration (meaning I assume illegal immigration).
He has said he doesn’t want the illegals to stay under any kind of special visa, that allowing them legal residency would just encourage more to come.
So, what aspect of illegal immigration is he weak on in your view?
So...I guess economics wasn’t your favorite subject, was it? ;^)
WHAT?.....Huckabee??
