The true, and untold, part of this story is, how many other decent law-abiding citizens have fallen into this nefarious trap?

You two should get together, take your act out on the road or something.

Now, see, you do have a sense of humor. There is hope for you yet...:)

Once upon a time I was a fast food manager. It is an inconvenience, because it takes an employee’s time away from serving other customers. In a busy fast-food restaurant during a meal rush period, 2 or 3 minutes of having an employee off the line can inconvenience a lot of customers.

One shop I managed for a while was in a busy mall — no drive-thru, obviously, but sometimes special orders had to be taken out to a customer’s table to keep the lines moving. There was a dearth of eateries in this mall, so we were always busy, but the Christmas shopping period was especially intense. We had two cash registers, each supported by a line of order-takers and order-fillers working with assembly line efficiency. One time when we calculated how fast we were able to serve customers when we had an unlimited supply of them (they were already lined up at the gate before we opened, and we had to bring down the gate on a remaining line at closing), it turned out that over the course of an entire day, 9AM to 10PM with extended holiday mall hours, we averaged one customer every 7 seconds, so 14 seconds for each line. If I had an employee take 90 seconds to take an order out to the dining room, that meant 6+ potential customers who we just weren’t able to serve at all that day.

Here we go again

You ain't kidding.

I thought the 700-800 replies on various threads from yesterday would have settled the issue.

But Noooooo.....

Here we are at nearly 250 today.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

She was asked to move twice. First by the drive thru worker. She did this.

Then the cop approached her after honking and waving at her. He said she was parked illegally and told her to move. She refused at this point because MD had asked her to park there and did not feel she was illegally parked.

“I greatly suspect that if the person in front of him in line had been a 300 pound biker, the cop would have just waited until the biker got his food and left.
Good point. And now, he will possibly think twice about accosting female senior citizens....*Grin*.”

Naw, the 300 pound biker probably had a record and wouldn’t want trouble so he would do the right thing and get his vehicle out of the way of the cops and patrons. This old battle axe is in a world of her own thinking everybody owes her the time of day....

Nice witty comeback. Next you’ll claim I’m from DU. Beware Godwins rule though.

“She was conducting business with this establishment which gives her the legal right to be there until they advise her she is trespassing and request she leave. Are you a lawyer and a game warden?

The key part of the ordinance “so as to endanger the safe movement of pedestrians or vehicles thereon”

She was not endangering pedestrians or vehicles so that code does not apply. Nor was she blocking the entrance to prevent free access.”

The endangerment would occur as soon as one of the two dozen or more people decided to force their way out of the line, or worse yet, confront the old lady in their own way for not getting out of the way of humanity. It was the cops job to enforce the law; he could see a situation that would endanger someone as soon as people tried to bust out of the line or force her to move. He did his JOB!

I believe she was on a power trip. I would never burden the drive thru with a special order. The drive thru is for quick orders and standard stuff. People who are in a hurry/have to get back to work/etc., use the drive thru. If I want a special order, I go inside.

A young man walking toward an officer with fists clenched, refusing to follow a lawful order to not trap the police officer's car after being repeatedly asked not to do so for 20 minutes would be arrested. It was right that she was, too.

I might add that blocking a drive thru for 20 minutes probably caused a large loss of revenue for that business. There were some very unhappy customers lined up behind and possibly trapped there, as well. I think trying to reason with her for 20 minutes was generous. Had the police not arrested her, how long would she have stayed there?

I've seen fast food joints either busy and/or small enough to where the line can wrap around the entire building and onto the street.

Think that isn't an accident waiting to happen?
