I wouldn't have done it, just as I wouldn't have played a role in a movie glorifying or romanticizing the KKK, cannibalism, or child abuse.

"Like he was the only actor who ever played a gay character before? Give me a break." And most of those actors who have, have also lost me, my support and my box office revenue. It's not so much the role of a gay person that turns me off, but it's the context in which homosexuality is lionized and romanticized.
Obviously, I don't celebrate the death of this young man, a tragedy regardless of the cause. I simply haven't supported him as an actor since Brokeback. He had a free choice in selecting a part that made a political statement and I reserve my freedom in how I dispense of my entertainment $$.
