Thanks in advance.
Romney. No doubt.
Whether you like him or simply consider him to be the least of evils, Romney is the only remaining VIABLE alternative to McCain.
It's time to stop threatening to stay home and unite behind Romney to beat the Rats.
Lots of threads addressing this including one from Jim Rob about a week and a half ago (the night Thompson won the debate) or more. The general conclusion is Romney.
I'm wondering the same thing myself. For the first time in over 30 years there is not one candidate I can get behind. I think the absolute best we can hope for now is a brokered convention. I know that's what I'll be praying for -- no clear winner from Rudy McRombee and an 1880 repeat convention.
If that don't happen and we're stuck with Rudy McRombee we'd better get ready to say President Hillary or President Obama because the GOP is toast.
Since my guy dropped out two days after I voted for him, I’m switching my support to Ron Paul.
Give Hillary some thought. If she changes her party affiliation she’ll find a following on the right. Every other democrat hiding behind the skirt of conservatism has.
There are now five candidates:
1. Giuliani: is an urepentant radical social liberal. His redeeming value is that he was at 9/11.
2. Romney: is a radical social liberal who repented JUST AS he entered the race. His redeeming value is that he’s filthy rich and willing to teach all of us how to become rich (gods) in our own right.
3. McCain: is a covert radical social liberal who doesn’t believe in secure borders. His redeeming value is that as a POW he learned how to get crazy to defend America.
4. Huckabee: is a radical fiscal liberal who doesn’t believe in secure borders. Of all the candidates, he has been consistently pro-life his entire career.
5. Paul: is a radical defense liberal who believes “nice” will win the day if we’ll just remove our defenses from overseas. His redeeming value is that he is conservative on other issues that don’t PO his online anti-Jew, skinhead friends.
In short.
We’re screwed.
Here is an intesting little straw poll from the hometown of John McCain that took place yesterday (21Jan2008):
The Maricopa County Republican Party met today and gave an indication of who the party faithful is supporting as the Republican nominee. Here are the results out of 721 ballots cast: Overall Votes (662 Votes): #1 - Mitt Romney - 28.4% (188) #2 - Fred Thomson - 18.3% (121) #3 - Ron Paul - 17.4% (115) #4 - Duncan Hunter - 14.0% (93) #5 - John McCain - 12.1% (80) #6 - Rudy Giuliani - 5.0% (33) #7 - Mike Huckabee - 4.8% (32)
Being from Arizona, I agree. I prefer Mitt by far to McCain.
I’m a conservative and I have no problem with ANY of the remaining Republican candidates -— with the notable exception of Ground Control to Major Paul.
Suck it up guys. Next to Hillary Milhous Clinton, every one of our remaining candidates looks like George Washington, Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan all rolled into one.
All thats left is moderates and liberals.
McCain, Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee ---- not a conservative in the bunch.
No thanks. None of the above.
Good luck with that...
Contrary to what a lot of others are saying, he's not as liberal as some would imply.
He ain't no staunch conservative to be sure, but he's a leap and bound better than the alternatives. If Romney backs out, so do I.
Bill the Cat
It is very simple. Romney is the most conservative and most capable of the lot.
I am wondering the same thing
Sorry, there is no conservative left to vote for; all are more-or-less equally foul.
I will vote for Fred in the Primary.
In the general, I will probably still vote for Fred.
Karl Rove said (rougly) “FVck the conservatives; where will they go?”
Well, F-you Karl, I am not playing your RINO game.
