Who Should Get the Conservative Vote? (Evangelical for Romney)
News Blaze ^ | January 21, 2008 | Eddie Huff

Posted on 01/21/2008 4:45:42 PM PST by Romneyfor President2008

I was in El Paso, Texas over the Christmas holidays when a pastor and dear friend told me he had expected me to write something about the upcoming Pesidential elections, and particualrly about Mitt romney. I have actually been working on something on this for about 6 months, I have just not felt the time was right to share it. Well I now feel the tiem s right and here it is.

Let me say from the outset that these are my personal views and opinions, and are shared as such. They do not reflect upon any ministry or organization that I may be affiliated with. My views are also from a conservative or Evangelical Christian point of view.

In the Democratic Party we have 2 frontrunners and one candidate that will not quit while in the Republican Party we have 3 or 4 still battling it out. Of these seven leading candidates I have come to the conclusion that Mitt Romney is the best overall candidate from the conservative and Evangelical point of view. I have also come to the conclusion that the only reason that a conservative Christian would have for not vote for Mitt Romney is his Mormon religion, and that is a legitimate concern. So how would I come to the conclusion that Gov. Romney is the best guy, especially since I studied cult apologetics, in seminary, under the late Dr. Walter Martin? For those who do not know or remember him, Dr. Martin was author of The Kingdom of the Cults, which is the bible of cult apologetics. He also founded and hosted the syndicated radio program The Bible answer Man. Oh, and Walter was also my Sunday School teacher for 2 years.

...and if Hillary is elected because people self-righteously stay home on Election day, you may never again get to cast a meaningful vote: a Democratic sweep means big time amnesty & naturalization moves over the next 4 years, resulting in millions of new and permanently Democratic voters. So next time around, that principled vote of yours will be even lonelier. Think about it.

"I voted for Perot because none of the others appealed to my standards."

I voted for Perot along with 19% of Americans.

Wasn't the result of that vote a fun ride?

Go ahead, take your ball and go home.

It is not easy maintaining a decent Republic when the best players refuse to participate in the process.

Third party is a part of the process - a tool to keep the first two parties in line.

Since Huckabee, Romney, McCain, and Rudy were all for illegal immigration and amnesty until about 2 weeks ago, that’s what we’ll get anyway.

I will write in a conservative on the ballot.

I also have the advantage of having lent a certain president, then govenor, a plane trip or two, and many, many trips to staffers.

The RNC will come calling for favors in the general election, as they do.

I will tell them to f@ck themselves.

Oh yeah sure the epitome is that we will get even worse if we don’t vote for so and so.

Why wait till the final selection process to choose?

But of course, the primary elections are mostly a formality. The selections have already been made. Time to give up. Who’s hot, who was hot, who’s not hot. Just ask the MSM and they will convince you who you should vote for.
We don’t need any stinking primarys. Our candidates have been anointed. Resistance is futile. Drop your support for X and go to Y because Y talks faster.

I don’t know why we even bother with elections. All they are is a fear mongers dream.

I am thinking that you really don’t care if Hilary or Obama get elected then. You might think it is a hard pill to swallow but look at what is at stake.

“It is not easy maintaining a decent Republic when the best players refuse to participate in the process.”

It’s not easy maintaining a Republic when people are willing to compromise their beliefs just so they can participate in the process.

I am never ashamed about who I vote for. But I take time to KNOW exactly WHO I am voting for.

I voted for Perot too. Let me tell you I have been regreting it ever since. We wouldn’t be having to listen to speeches by Hilary if I hadn’t voted for Perot.

Let's see...if my rear view mirror is working correctly...you could have voted for Perot along with 19% of Americans...or you could have voted for Bush along with 37.4% of Americans...either way, you voted (or would have voted) for a losing candidate.

As it turned out, the 37.4% of George the pre-W. Bush voters did take their ball & go home. And I would say that all voters participated in the process, thank you.

One of the biggest political myths around is that if you vote for the second-place loser, you've somehow done this great & noble thing...but if you vote for the third-place loser...or somewhere else further down the line, why, what a terrible voter you are! Sorry to have to break the news to you...but a vote for a losing candidate is a vote for a losing candidate...

If you do a straight-across bet re: the Super Bowl winner (& margin of victory doesn't effect the bet payoff), it wouldn't matter if the Giants lost in OT to the Pats or if they got blone out (other than for entertainment & sponsor preferences). A Super Bowl loser is still a Super Bowl loser.

I think the people who should have regrets are the ones who were convinced NOT to vote for Perot. Perot had momentum, had a clear message, effectively used the charts to convey his message.
But the fear mongers said a vote for Perot would surely kill us all. So suddenly people were skeered and went back to the two party way of doing business.

I will never regret my vote for Perot. I have sympathy for those who didn’t.

From article: If we leave the social and moral issues for a moment, and look to the fiscal side of things...

Did I misread the article? Except for immigration, the author never revisited "the social and moral issues," now did he?

Had he done so, he would have found multiple additional reasons to pass him over.

I just wonder how many posters here are actually workers for one of the candidates?

Sorry,

37.4% of Americans has nothing to do with elections. Your post almost reads or seems that you are talking about Americans. I think that is what you meant. Regardless, the 37% was impacted by Perot.

NINETEEN PER CENT of VOTERS voted for Perot in 1992.

As 1 person who voted for Perot, I can say that I voted for Perot because George Bush and his “no new taxes” pledge violation ruined him when it came to reelection.

If that was not what you meant, then if Perot had not received those votes in my opinion they would have gone to President Bush, and he would have beat the scumbag who received only 43% of the vote.

In other words, Ross Perot changed the election results completely. The vast majority of his votes would never have gone to Clinton and we would not even ever have had the BJ legacy, or worse.

I repent for my Perot vote.

The RNC can go to Hell

Gee, I thought it was the voters in SC who voted for McCain and Huckabee and not Fred, who can go to Hell.

“Fred is my only choice. Otherwise I am just sitting this one out. I am tired of having to settle for 2nd or 3rd choice every year.”.................................... You, me, and Tom Delay apparently. The RNC can go to Hell.

Me three. I am not giving my vote away to Liberal Republicans anymore.

I won't be a party to this charade.
