Who Should Get the Conservative Vote? (Evangelical for Romney)
News Blaze ^ | January 21, 2008 | Eddie Huff

Posted on 01/21/2008 4:45:42 PM PST by Romneyfor President2008

I was in El Paso, Texas over the Christmas holidays when a pastor and dear friend told me he had expected me to write something about the upcoming Pesidential elections, and particualrly about Mitt romney. I have actually been working on something on this for about 6 months, I have just not felt the time was right to share it. Well I now feel the tiem s right and here it is.

Let me say from the outset that these are my personal views and opinions, and are shared as such. They do not reflect upon any ministry or organization that I may be affiliated with. My views are also from a conservative or Evangelical Christian point of view.

In the Democratic Party we have 2 frontrunners and one candidate that will not quit while in the Republican Party we have 3 or 4 still battling it out. Of these seven leading candidates I have come to the conclusion that Mitt Romney is the best overall candidate from the conservative and Evangelical point of view. I have also come to the conclusion that the only reason that a conservative Christian would have for not vote for Mitt Romney is his Mormon religion, and that is a legitimate concern. So how would I come to the conclusion that Gov. Romney is the best guy, especially since I studied cult apologetics, in seminary, under the late Dr. Walter Martin? For those who do not know or remember him, Dr. Martin was author of The Kingdom of the Cults, which is the bible of cult apologetics. He also founded and hosted the syndicated radio program The Bible answer Man. Oh, and Walter was also my Sunday School teacher for 2 years.

No, I’ll just write in Fred.

(Assuming he doesn’t endorse McCain, in which case I would write in Duncan Hunter.)

I voted for Perot because none of the others appealed to my standards.

The Problem with voters. They are too easily hearded like sheep. If they can be convinced their first choice may lose, they are always willing to settle for 2nd or 3rd choice. And for that compromise we get the crappy leadership. It isn’t because others vote based on principal. It’s the voters who give up principal who elect the crappy leaders.

I see weakness in people who are afraid to take a stand against the same leadership they dispise and keep re-electing more of the same. Thats the biggest problem in America. people are afraid to make a stand. Settle for less. Get less. You get what you vote for.

If conservatives vote for a liberal Republican , then yeah, probably. It will be without my help though.

Perhaps the republicans should nominate a conservative.

I just read up on that -— to do a write in, you scroll the wheel to “write in” and then there is a key board where you type the name in via the wheel.

Will be doing it.

“Fred is my only choice. Otherwise I am just sitting this one out. I am tired of having to settle for 2nd or 3rd choice every year.”

I gotta say that I have three children who when they don’t get their way sound an awful lot like you. It’s tough to not get what we want - especially if we are convinced that it is best. HOWEVER, sometimes, you just gotta make do. To act otherwise becomes a rather immature response.

"Who should get the Conservative vote"?

There is only one "conservative" still in the race and he will get my vote, whether he is on the ballot or not. But that is just my choice.

Wow! Is he ever on target here?

The Huckabee and McCain campaigns seem to vacillate between whining and angry outbursts. McCain has a long history of angry and even vulgar public outbursts while Huckabee is a bit more subtle.

Tom DeLay said he would sit out if Romney’s the nominee? Link?

Wrong. I heard Delay. He will sit out if McCain is the candidate. He will support Rudy, Romney or Huck.

According to Websters Dictionary:

Pragmatic:

relating to matters of fact or practical affairs often to the exclusion of intellectual matters!

To me it has become a word representative of quislingism.

Well, no, I hope not. I carry around the burden of three guys who report to me and one boss I report to, plus my wife, family, household duties, etc.
Did you want me to hold your hand through this next transition ? Get used to it.

Well if fidelity to the Constitution is a good measure of conservatism it would have to be Ron Paul (R) TX.

I have been a voter for 30+ years. I honestly cannot recall voting for a Rep or Dem I ever felt comfortable with. A couple votes were just the lesser of two evils.

Now I have voted for Perot and John Anderson as 3rd party candidates. Sure, they didn’t win. But my vote went where my principal led me.

When we go shopping for a car, we expect many models, many brands, and many colors. With a President, we get two choices, no options, same color, and the ride is just as rough as the car we traded in. How can we consider that we even have a choice, when we really don’t??
