Just heard on Laura Ingram (quoting Carl Cameron of FoxNews) that Thompson will drop out tomorrow.
Bad results, ill mother....
I will look elsewhere for a candidate to support.
Fred did not realize how much he would have benefitted from the many months of early (ridiculously early, IMHO) debates. He may have learned before the primaries started how to talk a little faster, to stop clearing his throat and to keep his hands off of his face.
I agree with his positions more than those of any other candidate and believe that he is a man of character. I worried about the lack of leadership that he demonstrated in the Senate Chinese funny-money hearings.
Sadly his years of seventeen takes to get a couple of sentences right on Law and Order did nothing to improve his ability to appeal to a one-take audience.
And then she started talking about how Mitt tried to hook her up with a friend of his. UGH. I thought I was listening to a portion of The View, NOT Laura Ingraham.
I didn’t vote in that poll. As a matter of fact, I’ve only voted in one of the last 3-4 FR polls.
FUD
more BS spewed by people who don’t know what they are talking about.
He was put there to give people the notion that Bush 43 was a conservative.
Yep.
And Republicans are choosing not to support McCain, for the obvious reasons.
On the bottom of the screen on Fox, it reads that “after a disappointing 3rd place showing in SC, FT returned home to consult with his Mom”.
Just damn, they are despicable. His Mother is SICK, FGS. He’s not a 12 year old that needs Mommy’s help to decide his own future.
Please.
MOgirl
No he isn't. Romney is ahead.
Thompsons the guy in the end that disappointed most of us.
Every time there’s a negative post on freerepublic Thompson gets more donations.
I love it!
McCain's (38) and Huckabee's (26) pledged delegate count combined (64) is still less than what Romney (66) has. Media aren't advertising that fact. Neither are they advertising that, per CNN's current count, Obama (38) is slightly ahead of Clinton (36).
I have a sinking feeling that the fix is in......
I cannot believe that with people screaming for CHANGE, that McLame is getting all this attention and traction. If there was anyone that is the epitome of old tired policies, it is McLame.
Even if Fred goes and Mitt gets it, it we'll only prolong the inevitable, unless Mitt goes dead solid perfect on Reagan values, which I admit could happen, but I prefer not to deal with "could" when I have "will"...
Matters little to me though, I have positioned myself to weather the storm one way or the other. I vote for what is right.
1. Fred is staying in the race. Had he decided to drop out he would have told us first. If he was thinking about it, he would have been honest with us and told us. Many people here are jumping to baseless conclusions.
2. The campaign is working on strategies for Florida and Super Tuesday and we will hear about them VERY soon.
3. Fred will further differentiate himself from McCain while continuing to point out the liberal tendencies of his rivals.
4. Sources inside the Huckabee campaign are extremely worried since they didnt beat McCain in SC. Blaming Fred for the loss is not an off the cuff reaction. It is part of their strategy to fight Fred. While they will get a boost in donations now, they are still extremely worried about money and the ability to continue past Florida if they do not do well there.
5. McCain is hoping for a windfall of cash, especially since he recently took out a personal loan for $3 MILLION. If he does not and doesnt do well in Florida he is all but through also. He may stay in until Super Tuesday, but will not have the ability to campaign as they would like.
6. Guiliani is done after Florida if he doesnt come in 1st or a close 2nd. He is out of money and has been consistently and rapidly dropping in the national polls. Without doing well in Florida Guiliani will not get anymore money and will not be able to continue campaigning as he had.
7. Hunter will come out and endorse Fred this week when Fred makes it clear to the public he is staying in. A Thompson/Hunter ticket is very appealing to true conservatives and the true Republican base, though I personally would like a younger, more vibrant running mate for Fred. Congressman John Shadegg from Arizona would be an excellent choice. He is smart and conservative and a great speaker. He also acts Presidential.
8. Fred has continued to gain momentum and has seen an increase in the various national polls over the past couple of weeks. He is the only candidate to consistently do this. Its like a snow ball starting at the top of a hill with a vary slight decline. The snow ball is rolling and getting bigger, yet it does it slowly. The decline in the hill is getting steeper and the snow ball will start rolling faster.
9. Bill Lacey and the people running the campaign, including Fred, are NOT dumb. They know what theyre doing. Yes SC was disappointing, but it was still encouraging at the same time. Fred beat Romney, arguably the second most conservative in the race. Fred, of course, is the most. This was a good sign.
10. DONT be discourage friends. Seriously! It will all be okay. You must believe in what Ive posted here. Im not at liberty to tell you how I know these things, just that I do. We are seen as a HUGE part of the campaign, our postings and positive attitudes while blogging here. I know it is appreciated! We are appreciated very much by Fred. It is IMPORTANT for us to continue the positive energy! We must IGNORE LeeLy and uuuit tuti (sp?) and Jake Long. We cant give them power over us by allowing them to bring us down and upset the positive energy and overall feeling here. South Carolina, while important, was a bump in the road and will play to Freds advantage in the long run. Please continue to be encouraged and stay positive. Continue to give what you can. Campaign donations are as important now as they have ever been to Fred. Continue to make calls for Fred in Florida. Continue to talk to your friends and anyone else you come in contact with. FREDS TIME IS NOW!!! Its up to US to help him! LETS ROLL PEOPLE!!
GO FRED!!
This was posted on Freds site today. Lets hope this guy knows what he is talking about.
No, the alleged conservatives and Republicans who supported McCain, Huckabee and Romney, in the end, will disappoint us all.
Her listenership dropped just a little bit today.
I’ve always felt that Thompson’s role was to act as a spoiler and now that the conservatives are gone there’s no point of staying in the race.
Now the choices are between those who oppose protecting the border and those who want an open border.
Too bad people were so busy worrying about the mythical electability beast that they could only throw a good man an anchor as he drown.
Ever since the first presidential election the general population was allowed to vote in which resulted in Andrew Jackson's second term, we have been voting for the lesser of two evils, and yes, that is how we got to where are. Hillary loves a Republican who refuses to vote against her.
Nope, it's even too late for that; it's going to be Hillary. Too many of us are going to stay home.
