Sen. John McCain won Saturday's South Carolina Republican presidential primary, AP projects.
Fox News and NBC News exit polls ranked the economy as the top concern among South Carolina primary voters, followed by illegal immigration, the war in Iraq, and terrorism.
Columnist and Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol commenting on Saturday's results on the Fox News Channel said that the Republican field is now winnowing down to just three viable candidates: McCain, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani.
I wouldn't vote for McCain if they paid me then took me to vote in complementary stretch limo.
You are more alone than you may think. But the simple fact is, in EVERY election a certain number of the base refuse to vote for the candidate. I doubt Romney’s going to lose more than is usual. Typically you will see between 10-15% of the self-identified members of a party who say they don’t support the candidate.
Bobby Jindal for president!!!:D
In any case, if he wins it will be without any help from me. I won’t bear any responsibility for that odious man, not even the minimal responsibility that arises from voting for him. I may even vote for the Dem. If I am fated to be in opposition for the next four years I want to oppose a donkey, not an elephant.
All I can say is bend over a grab your ankles.
Unfortunately you’re right on.
That’s exactly how I see it.
It sure as hell turned mine.
McCain has won two open primaries. In the two closed ones he has been trounced by huge margins. That speaks volumes as to who supports him. Fortunately, the next two states, Florida and Maine are closed. I don’t ecpect him to do as well.
Indeed, you don't.
Essentially 20% to 30% of the Republican electorate has been effectively disenfranchised by the machinations of the GOP and the MSM.
You are right. The GOP cannot win in NOv. 2008 with this demographic. At best they could have 52-55% of the popular vote WITH the conservative wing of the GOP. Without it the best the GOP can hope for is maybe 42% of the popular vote. Even with skillful electoral college wins, it will be impossible for the GOP to win.
All the Dems need to do is nominate a warm body.
Welcome to 4 years of hell.
Thats the way the cookie has crumbled.
Conservative Republicans are very angry at this point.
And FR has fallen starngely, relatively silent.
Scarey stuff!
The MEDIA is electing our President..God help us.
You are so right!! God have Mercy on our land.
Well you may have a point but it is a 4 way tie in Fla right now. Tonight is certainly going to help McCain.
Read the Exit Inteviews from SC, it is enough to make you want to puke. People really are swayed to vote for who they think will win, not who they agree with politically.
You are missing the big picture. Idiots elect these assholes looking for something they can't do for themselves. Free thinking people like me are a dying breed.
Let me tell you that if this AMNESTY freak and Vietnam Collaberator gets the nomination of this party we will RON PAUL his butt in the ground so bad this entire party will be destroyed like the whigs in 1856. There wont be enough left in this party to turn out the lights. I am so sick of this SH!T. Thompson was a good man!! Hunter was a good man. This Crap head isn’t wortha damned and if this keeps up about 18 million of us are OUT OF HERE!!!!.
Actually they might do better with a cold one. Jack Kennedy, Harry Truman, Scoop Jackson, even Hubert Humphrey would be better than the breathing crop. Better dead than red.
