Sorry, but the only alternatives we had, one has dropped out and one just showed he can’t get 20% of the republicans to support him even when he really tries.
I’m stuck with Romney. I could go with McCain, pretending the polls are correct and she could win, and hoping he doesn’t do anything like what he’s done in the last 8 years, or decide to “pay us conservatives” back for whatever perceived slight he detects against us.
Or I could go with Rudy, figuring that the general population won’t be confused when us pro-lifers all tell them that, contrary to what we’ve said for years, they should actually vote for a pro-abortion person.
Or I could try Huckabee, proving to the general population that I really don’t care at all about the war on terror, or immigration, or fiscal conservatism.
Nope, of the candidates that could be our nominee, Romney is the man who is running on the true conservative platform. I supported Fred Thompson, in the hopes we could have a less “risky” conservative, but he failed to care whether people voted for him (I don’t mean to be harsh, but Fred himself said that there were other candidates for people to vote for if they didn’t like his way of doing things).
I collected signatures for Virginia for Fred, but I don’t think he will be viable when he gets here.
I even sent money to Hunter, but he never caught on. And that wasn’t my fault — one supporter or even one voter isn’t what’s needed, it’s one candidate who can make the people vote for him.
I haven’t voted yet. I NEVER before tonight EVER suggested anybody should switch to Romney. I Never said anybody should NOT vote for Fred Thompson, or for Duncan Hunter.
So it isn’t MY fault that Fred Thompson isn’t leading the race for the republican nomination, nor is it the other few hundred Romney supporters here.
And I don’t see the Romney’s walked his talk, except shortly before he decided to run for president. That kind of walk is always suspect to me.
Of course, and that is why we should crack down and get rid of illegals.
Bad Weather, and a real democratic race that kept democrats and independents out of the republican race this time.
Sounds like you have simply bought into the anti Romney rhetoric around here. Take some time and learn something about this great man.

I know...I gave up. Thanks.
That’s ridiculous. Christians don’t vote in a bloc, regardless of the way the media talks about us. It’s character and values that matter and Mormons believe in and live by biblical and American values. Maybe in the east being a Mormon is a strange thing, but out here in the west we know them to be good solid people. His faith will not be held against him any more than if he were Jewish or Catholic. It’s a media manufactured issue. I’d much rather vote for a good Mormon than a bad Catholic. We are sending in our early ballots for Romney tomorrow, hoping he has enough sense to pick Thompson for VP.
Then you have only met “Jack” Mormons...UT and ID are the reddest states in the union.
That’s because at this time, if you wreck your car, the government doesn’t feel compelled to replace it.
Whereas if you show up at the hospital with internal bleeding, we simply can’t tell you to go outside and bleed to death simply because you don’t have any money — we will fix you at taxpayer expense.
And you know, if that’s the way it’s going to be, I don’t see the problem with making such people NOT get tax breaks. Why not take away one of their tax breaks, to cover the taxpayer costs associated with being the insurer of last resort for those who can’t show they have the ability to pay?
JV is one of our most prized FReepers.
He’s been personally involved in translating
the millions of docs our fabulous troops have
recovered in Saddam’s palaces, hideouts and
caches.
He’s a wonderful and devoted patriot and American.
Speaking badly of him will elicit a very poor
opinion of you, I’m afraid.
I recommend you just don’t go there again.
Was there an official Nevada Primary thread?
That’s interesting. I thought it was a funny line, but risky because of the way opponents will use it.
You’d think that it would be on tape if they have it on tape.
Oh well, their cute tag lines sure helped their candidate get votes. :-)
Er, I mean “caucus” thread?

How can we dump Huckabee out of second place? It looks like we're going to have to take this fight to the convention floor and decide it there.
Press on!
No party registration in South Carolina. No serious Dem race in 2000. Armageddon in the GOP. Many middle road or slightly conservative will vote in Dem primary next week. IN 2000, all would have voted in GOP. Still, 400K is disappointing. Gop officials were saying 500K. Let’s see what the final total is, when all votes in.
Did you read what you just wrote? Do you WANT "republicans" to win because they are liberal? Don't you realise that the problem with "republicans" in Mass. is that they got too liberal?
How was Romney going to help them with THAT?
